The 1850 Barn
This building (located 87 Washington avenue.) is recorded as a barn of the Kuhlthau farm in the Middlesex Inventory of Architectural Places (code 12-51). Since the document indicates a mid-19th Century origin, we will call the barn the 1850 barn. After the Kuhlthau family ;sold the building, it became a clothing  business, then a limousine service business ; in the 1970s the barn had a large sign 'The Red Shoe Barn,'
The farm house was at the bottom of the hill, in the Borough Hall area. The lower part from the farm house tothe brook was a pasture for horses.
There were 2 short side lines parallel to the main line

One , next to the main line, was a parking side line,  long enough for 2  train cars.

The other was an elevated line (8 ft above ground), from which coal, or other products, could be directly dumped into a truck parked underneath.
