Star Trek Explanation

The Federation: is a government. It is made up of many races. More can be inducted. They have no currency and all materials are shared.

Starfleet Emblem Starfleet: is the military of the Federation. Unlike many militaries, they are also scientist and explorers. They defend the Federation, but they also explore the universe and make first contact with other species. To get into Starfleet you must get accepted to Starfleet Academy. There, you will take classes and when you graduate, you will leave the academy with the rank of ensign. They have a constitution known as the Prime Directive. It basically saids that they can't interfere with the culture of other less advanced species. They must obey all the laws of each culture they interact with.

Ranks:These are the ranks from highest to lowest:

Captain
Commander
Lieutenant Commander
Lieutenant
Ensign
Cadet

Section 13:in an official Starfleet document there is a mention of the creation of this group of people. Everyone assumed they were no longer around, but they had continued with the knowledge of a few high authority persons. They are spies for the Federation. The Federation does not acknowledge their existence.

These are some of the most common alien species in the Federation alliance

The Vulcans Vulcans:These were the first aliens humans met. This species possess telepathic abilites(the ability to use your mind to get into other's mind and to talk to other telepathic persons with your thoughts. They are descended from the same species as the Romulans. Their most prominent physical feature are their pointed ears. They all have black hair. They do not respond very well to cold. Vulcans possess great emotions and they supress them with their mind by meditating. They believe in following logic and won't show any emotions. They are stronger than humans and can use a weapon called a nerve pinch, which temporarily knocks the person out. Vulcan marriages are arranged from birth. Every seven years from the age of 18, Vulcans go through a process known as pon farr. It is how they mate. Their undergo physical and emotional duress until they either mate or fight with their chosen mate. If a Vulcan is unable to find a mate to do these things with, they may die. Some more mature Vulcans can get through pon farr by meditating. Vulcans do not talk about pon farr because it is something they consider very private and a bit demeaning in a way. They can also perform something known as a mindmeld in which they can go into others minds or bring others into their minds or like to seperate individuals minds. They do this by placing the fingers on the individual(s) head in specific places and just concentrating while chanting, "my mind to your mind. my thoughts to your thoughts." Something Vulcans are most famous for is the saying, "live long and prosper."

The Betazoids Betazoid:This species is also telepathic. They don't hide anything from each other since they can all read each other's minds. They tend to communicate mostly with their thoughts as opposed to communicating verbally.

Trill:This species breeds another species known as a symbiont. It is not known when this began or why. The symbiont is put inside of the Trills stomach and lives there. In order to acquire a symbiont, a Trill must prove that they are physically and mentally fit to become the host of the symbiont. Symbionts normally live in a cold chemical, so this makes the Trills hands cold. The Trill's last name is changed to the symbiont names. After being in the host for a certain amount of time, the symbiont cannot be removed without killing the host. When the host dies, the symbiont is moved to another host. It retains it past host(s) memories. Not every Trill becomes a host. After a certain amount of time the host goes through a ritual which allows past host(s) to talk to them through some one elses body. This allows them to meet the symbionts past host(s). They can also perform a ritual by themselves in which they can bring a host foward and the host will take a physical shape in their head and only they can see or hear the host. They can also send the hosts memories to another symbiont and talk to the host that way. When a Trill is joined with a symbiont they become many people. They have the experiences, memories, and knowledge of those people. It is illegal for a host to start a romantic relationship with someone their past host had a romantic relationship with. The penalty is death for the symbiont, by not letting it have another host after the current host dies. A Trills most prominent feature are their spots that go from their head to their feet.
