James Leaving?
(12/00 -01/01)

We've all heard the rumours 'Spike's going to get staked because James is leaving the show for a big time movie' 'James is leaving the show for good, Joss was upset.' yada yada yada, Here is a list of all the things that have been said about this.. But I suggest you either semi-believe(in a cautious way) the most recent posting, or don't believe any of it at all until it's confirmed or we see something happen on the show.   I've tried to keep this stuff off my site, because I don't want to believe if.. as I'm in denial and I don't want my James to leave..:(   BUT, since I know alot of you want to know what the hell is going on, I shall keep this page here till things are confirmed and I'll add whatever bits come up about this to this page. NOTE: That doesn't mean that they are true.

Some Riley/Marc Blucas spoilers..

If anyone finds anymore news.. or knows of something I missed, E-mail me

From an Interview with James Marsters at TheWB.com - 01/09/01

The WB:
Do you have any other acting projects in the works?
James: Not yet. I recently had to turn down a role in a small film because of scheduling problems with Buffy, which is totally fine by me. That's what I would call a golden problem. The truth is that I'm in a great position right now. I'm totally excited and interested in what is happening to Spike this season. Basically, I'm having the time of my life.
Read the rest of this interview.

My Response:  I don't know if he's talking about the same movie... but this is from James' mouth.. not his manager or some weird woman at E!

From Watch With Wanda at E!Online.com 12/11/00 (Posted 12/19/00)

Question:
Tell me James Marsters isn't leaving! He is the best character on Buffy.
Wanda
: James Marsters won't be leaving for awhile, and as I told you last week, it's only a temporary break while he shoots a movie. He has a part in M. Night Shyamalan's latest flick. But next week, he gets dusted...in one of Buffy's dreams. She dreams (while she's sleeping next to Riley) that she's smooching away with Spike, and Riley walks in and kills him. It's all a foreshadowing of what's to come: Riley really does walk in on B&S locked in a passionate, RECIPROCAL kiss. Defeated, Riley decides to leave Buffy--and Sunnydale--behind.

My Response: WTF?  This is the most whacked out spoiler I've ever read and is completely opposite the few things I have read for the "Into The Woods" Episode.. Really no clue on any ofthis except the Marc leaving thing. But more mentions of the M. Night movie..  I almost feel that people are just playing along with rumours to keep us guessing on the show.

This was posted by ZERO who runs James Marsters.com - She posted this on the message board there. -12/13/00

"I just spoke to James' manager... "
"Now on to weightier issues: James on the big screen. I thought I'd just ask about this while I had that nice manager fella on the phone, since Wanda recently went on about it and everybody's in a tizzy everywhere I go... so I asked straightup, we've heard he's doing a movie, can you confirm or deny that. And the answer was "Not that I'm aware of.
I will remind that Glenn Quinn's publicist told me he wasn't leaving Angel. So if Spike is staked in Tuesday's episode, I'll likely call him back and ask if he'd like to change his answer. But for the moment, it seems to be no, James is not doing a film in the very near future.

zero "

My Response: I tend to believe zero, and She does have contacts. And I know she talks to James' and Glenn's Managers.. so who know.

I found this at TBC&S Spoiler board.. Read Original Post - 12/13/00
There are slight spoilers further down about Riley/Marc for those that don't already know 'it'.

-------
James Marsters, dining with a stunning redhead at Hamasaku, an asian restaurant in west Los Angeles, told a couple of fans who approached his table for autographs that he is not leaving Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And he told the fans, who mailed us the entire encounter, that if you aren't hitting Buffy, which he can't do, kissing her is the next best thing and he *can* do that. This fuels rumors that Joss Whedon recently made a similar comment in an interview set to come out in February's issue of Cinescape, just in time for sweeps. Whedon states, "We didn't expect such chemistry between Sarah and James. Both the actors had expressed a desire to be involved romantically on-screen and my reply was that there would be no more vampires. But we ran with the idea in 'Something Blue' and were just blown away by how well they played off one another. That's the reason. I eat my no more vampires words."

And Sarah filmed Christmas In Washington over the weekend. She arrived solo, no Freddie in sight, even though he was also scheduled to appear. Reports indicate that Sarah did a fantastic job, laughed with the audience and even fielded a question or two about her television show fron audience members while the sets were moved and acts set up. Sarah said she enjoys working with the entire cast, but spends the most time off camera with James Marsters, who she said 'makes her laugh until she aches all over'. She also stated that she misses Marc Blucas, but will be visiting him during the holiday break. So, those Riley being toast rumors may well be true. Gellar refused to comment about Freddie's absence or the rumors of their breakup.

My Response: Tres cool to Sarah and James hanging out.. hehe. But this seem interesting.. no clue if any of it is true.  Go Joss.

From Watch With Wanda at E!Online.com 12/04/00

Question: What's up with Buffy? Why does everyone keep saying Marc Blucas is staying?
Wanda:
Joss Whedon was pretty ticked about Blucas' departure getting leaked, so, he's been trying to spread some misinformation to keep us all guessing. One of those rumors is that Spike (James Marsters) will be written off the show instead of Riley. Not true. Like I've said before, Blucas is leaving in a couple weeks. However, Marsters is leaving the show--temporarily--to shoot a movie (I'm sealed on which one).

My Response: This is the most believable, mainly because it's Wanda. She's had her share of misinformation.. but most of the time she's right. We'll see.

12/04/00: Marsters & Hannigan Go Big Screen: Moviehole has an update on two of the best actors on "Buffy":
(just posting the James stuff)

"James Marsters (Spike) is on the verge of signing a big-time movie deal, and the rumour floating around the WB is that 'Spike' will make his exit from "Buffy" when this goes through."

My Response to this bit:
Now, this could be true, and for the 'big-time' movie for James. I say HELL YES. 'bout bloody time. If there is anyone who deserves a movie role it's James.
The only reason I'm posting this is because Darkhorizons has been on the right track with news and has never failed me. Of course, when they're directly quoting a site that is a total piece of S***.. I doubt them somewhat. I don't trust moviehole as far as I can throw it, mostly because their frames take up more of the site than the site does and I searched the ENTIRE thing and was not able to find where they mentioned James.

From Watchers.web.com:
Swan Song For Spike? 10/20/00

Really hope this isn't true but I have it on very good authority from a reliable source that a farewell party was held on the Buffy set on Wednesday - but not for Marc Blucas. Indeed, Blucas maintains he will be around for the rest of the season according to recent press statements. So who is heading off to bigger and better things?

Word has it that James Marsters has received an offer he cannot refuse - a very big part in an upcoming M Night Shimalyan movie, and it would have been crazy to turn that down. Allegedly Joss was unhappy, but has written him out in episode ten.

More as we get it.

My Response: If this happens, I'm going out and findin' me a vampire to end my pathetic life that will get even more pathetic if James were to leave.
