Jan is a retired US Air Force officer where he spent twenty years working in the communications and computing fields. He has another twenty years experience in the information technology area.
Jan was first licensed 1964 as WA4VQD. He is married to Joyce WA4OMS (KG4OS) with a son Ron N4TXR and daughter Sarah KD4DHS.
Jan is a member of the Florida DXPedition Group and the ARRL. He is an active Dxer and RTTY contester. Jan has participated in several DXpeditions and contests including South Georgia Island (VP8SGP), Falkland Islands (VP8CRB), Guantanamo Bay (KG4QD), and Haiti (HH4/K4QD). He has also operated as C6A/WA4VQD and CE8/WA4VQD.

Worked the CQWWSSB contest from Gitmo in 95 (KG4ZE), 98 & 99 (KG4CM). Worked the CQWWDX RTTY contest from Gitmo in 1997 (KG4GC). I participated in several RSGB Iota contests in the late 90's from my former QTH in the Florida Keys (NA-062). Activated Howell Key FL 450S in June 1998 also in the Keys.
Operated in the CQWWSSB contest from the Dominican Republic in 2002 (HI9X).

I live in Middleburg Florida after retireing from Bell
System, ATT, NCR after 30 years.
Moved here from Atlanta Ga where I lived for 20 years and became a HAM in 1992. Extra Class and enjoy the DX chase and challenge very much.
Achieved HONOR ROLL and 5BDXCC, also DXCC Phone, CW, RTTY number as
736.
Also DXCC on 10 Meter and WAC,WAZ.
