More Info Then You Could Possibly Care About...
Here's the little spot where I talk about me. Some favorites, hometown, folks, and siblings. You know, things like that.
This is me and my li'l cousin Shannon from Summer 2000.

It was a beautifully warm spring day, the birds were chirping, sun shining......
...and here I was causing my mom all that pain.
And the world trembled as it realized it was going to have to incorporate me.

I was born on May 7th, 1980, already causing my mom grief by making her spend Mother's Day in the hopital
with me. At least it was an appropriate time to be a mother. I mean come on, I tried to multitask even as a
newborn, what more could you ask?  My parents named me David Robert Crowe.  David means "beloved"
in Hebrew.  I tell my siblings, thats why they named me David, they knew right away that I was going to be
the favorite. How wrong was I...?  They say they named me David because they like how it sounded.  Robert
is German in origin and means "bright fame".  My middle name comes from my mom's father.  Unfortunately
he passed away before I was born, so I never got to meet my middle name sake.  Crowe is Irish in origin, and
I got that name because my mother didn't bother with any of those hyphens in her name. Believe me,
Bertram-Crowe would NOT have been better.

I grew up in South St Louis City.  We lived in one of those nice little pockets of good neighborhoods that can
be found if one looks hard enough.  I don't really recall anything from my early years, except looking at
pictures of me, I do know I was one hell of a cute kid, what happened?  Went to Catholic Elementaty School
at St Joan of Arc. Kindergarten through 8th grade all in one building. Not much to say from those times.  I
was an altar boy, (no, no molesting) a cub/boy scout, (again, nope), and went to Math and Geography Bees.
And I wonder why I was picked on in grade school...

Went on to attend St Mary's High School, also in Sotuh St Louis City.  All male, yikes.  Not exactly your
DeSmet or Sluh. We were more the school you went to if you couldn't get into anywhere else. I went there
because the faculty was nice, my brother went there, and who are we kidding, it was a lot more affordable.
Somehow came out of there without being ever being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  In high school
I was a member of the TV Studio, Creative Writing, Young Republicans (dark time in my past), and Delta
Lambda Iota.  Outside of school I did Junior Achievement, earned my Eagle Scout, and participated in the
parish Youth Group. I was a busy kid.

The SJA Youth Group was probably the biggest part of my life in my high school years.  They are the people
from St Louis that I still consider my friends. Never really hung out with my high school crowd.  Even when
there were not any Youth Group functions going on, we constantly hung out.  Especially the Fab Five.  We
were a bit clickish, but I think that was mostly due to us being in the Youth Group longer than the rest.  My
apologies.  Anyway, I will talk more about that crew on the
friends page.

Even though I was that busy of a kid, I kept those grades up and got a big chunk of scholarship money to
go to Mizzou (U of Missouri - Columbia).  Lived in the Gillett dorm, on 2nd Floor-Wilfley House.  When my
parents dropped me off, it wasn't a tear filled goodbye.  It was more like, "Ok, gotta go meet people, bye..".
Met most of the people I am still friends with that year living in the dorms.  Rare to keep that many
friendships with people from your first year, or so I've been told.  Again, more about all of them on the

friends page.

Of course I went and played too much Foozball freshman year and failed a 5 hour class. Yes, foozball. Not
booze, not women, not drugs, foozball.  But I somehow recovered and graduated in 4 years with a B.S.
in Mechanical Engineering and a mathematics minor. (Never have been able to leave the herd stigma behind,
and I can't figure out why...)  Promptly spent a year looking for work, and only found it at my old part-time
job at the grocery store.  After working full-time there for a year, I decided it was time to go back to school.
So now I am in Grad school, here at Mizzou.
