Chapter 10

"Maybe, but not likely," Sam murmured. "I need to go start packing my things for the trip, so if you'd
excuse me..." Sam walked out of the kitchen, her final words trailing off.
Sarah stared at JC. How he could do that? how cold he be so blind?
"Would anyone like anything to drink?" Bri asked breaking the silence.
A few minutes later, Justin walked to Sam's room, determined to either help her get JC, or get over
him. If the latter happened..... Well, he couldn't help it if he was the closest guy around, one who
wouldn't mind  helping her mend her broken heart.  But, if she did end up with JC, he wanted to be
around to make sure he didn't hurt her again, or at least be around to pick up the pieces of her heart
JC broke.
Sam was lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She had more posters up there. Justin tilted his head
up and looked at the poster she was staring at.  He blinked, not sure if he was seeing correctly.
"What's it supposed to be?"  The picture seemed to be a jumble of stormy grays, blacks and blues.
"It's supposed to be an ocean at night, in the middle of the night. But the moon is peeking out
through the clouds. You're seeing it from the wrong angle."
Sam scooted over and patted the bed next to her. "It's best if you see it laying down."
Justin laid down next to her. "Oh, I see now. It's a strange poster. Although it's supposed to be
stormy, it seems kind of peaceful."
"That's why it's right there," Sam said.   "It's usually the last thing I see before I go to bed. And
depending on how much I moved during the night, sometimes the first thing I see when I wake up."
Justin turned his head to look at Sam. "How badly do you want JC?"
"I would love to have him as my boyfriend, or husband, or anything like that. But how could I
compete with Lesley?"
Justin sat up and grabbed the remote for her stereo. He turned it on and  turned up the volume.
"You can, trust me. Lesley is an insecure woman, and is jealous of you.  If you put your mind to it, you
could steal any man from her."
"But that's not like me, Justin," Sam said. "I don't even flirt with men who are seeing other women. I
have no desire to even steal a man from anyone."
"So don't.  Just make JC realize that she's not what he thinks, and make him see you in a new light."
"What do you mean?" Sam was sitting up now, looking at him warily.
"Well around you, Lesley is extremely uneasy, and nervous. If she keeps it up, JC's bound to realize
what she's like. And as for you, he doesn't realize you're a beautiful, desirable woman.  Make him see
that you are. Start flirting with guys while he's around.  Get noticed by the world." Justin smiled with
that comment.
"What do you mean get noticed by the world?"
"Become a model, or actress. Can you sing?"
"I'm okay at singing, but much better at the piano, and dancing."
Justin's thoughts were flying a mile a minute. " I can't promise you anything right now, but I have
friends in high places.  And you're the type of woman the world wants to see right now.  And I'm sure
you're a good actress; you did hide your feelings for JC for a long time."
    "Eleven years."
"What?" Justin exclaimed. "That's how long you loved him?"
"Ever since I was seven. Probably longer, but I was seven when I first realized I loved him."
Justin stared at her for a minute, then looked at her walls.  With her words, what ever hopes he had
about becoming anything other than friends with her shattered.  JC was Sam's first love, and would
probably be her last, only love.

"George, are you still looking for models?" Justin asked the clothing designer he'd met a year ago, later
that day. George Armand had been starting out then, and had been looking for women models for his
clothing.
"Yes, I do." George told him, the faint French accent becoming prominent in his despair. "I never
found a woman who looked perfect for my clothes, and my best model just got married and is
expecting."
"Will you be in Europe in the next six weeks?"
"I'm going to Paris, tomorrow to visit family, why?"
"I have the perfect model for you. She's arriving in Paris early  Thursday, I think she'll be there until
next Tuesday. I'm going to fly out Saturday."
"Would you like to have lunch Sunday or Monday?"
"Monday. I'll call you Sunday so we can arrange it. You'll love Sam."
    "Her name is Sam?"
    "Samantha Rose Cameron."
"What a beautiful name.  If she is as beautiful as her name sounds, I think I just might be happy."
"Don't worry, man. You'll be estastic."
After hanging up with George, Justin booked a flight to Paris for Friday. Then he called Sam.
    "Hey, Sam. How are you?"
"Justin, we just talked like four hours ago," Sam said. "I'm okay."
"You're going to be in Paris next Monday, right?"
"Yeah, Sarah and I will be there until Tuesday.  Then we go to England.  Why?"
"I'm coming out Friday. The plane should arrive early Saturday morning.  A friend's going to be in
town and we want to have lunch together Monday.  Would you like to come?"
"Sure. Why not?  Just tell me where and when and Sarah and I will be there."
"What hotel are you two staying at?"
"Hold on," Sam said, getting up . She pulled the information out of a desk drawer and rattled off the
hotel name, address, and phone number.
    "Tell me the day before."
"Will do. Are you coming to the air port with Us, and Sarah and Bri."
"I'm  driving down myself, But I don't think I'm going to wait at the airport with you guys."
"I really don't want to be cramped in a car with JC and Lesley, so can I ride with you?"
"Didn't you guys have two cars?"
"We rented one in LA, and the other here.  Chris has already taken that one back.  Chris and Lance
are going with Sarah, Bri and me.  Joey and JC are going in the other car with Lesley."
Sarah knocked on Sam's door.  "Me and Bri are leaving to pick up the guys.  You going?"
"Yeah, I'll give you a ride," Sam told Justin.  "Pick you up in a few minutes.  "She hung up the phone
and opened her door.  "Yes, I'm going to give Justin a ride to LA."
Sam grabbed her car keys and walked out.
"Why are you giving Justin a ride?" Bri asked, as they walked  out the door.
"He doesn't want to ride with Lesley." Sam looked at her friends. "Can't say I blame him. I'd hate to
be cramped in a car with her."
"I agree," Sarah said, as she and Bri got in her car. Sam opened her door and hopped in.
"See you later," she called.  "Are we still going shopping after the guys catch their plane?"
"Hell, yeah," Bri yelled as Sarah pulled out of the parking space and drove off.
Sam waited for a minute, relaxing before starting the car and following Sarah.
