Chapter 1 JC's blue eyes glared coldly into those of his opponents. Kristin bounced the basketball she held in her hands, preparing to maneuver quickly around him. She faked left and went right. JC quickly followed behind her. Just as she was about to shoot the ball, JC reached out and tackled her to the ground. Kristin struggled to get free but JC held her firmly on the ground. "Get off me!" she screamed. "Get off, JC!" JC slowly climbed off her. He extended out his hand but as she went to grab it, he jerked it away. Kristin stood up, and glared hard into JC's eyes. "What the hell was that!? This isn't football!" "Yeah, 'cause you couldn't handle a real sport like football." "I can take anything you can dish out, Skinny Man." "Ha!" "What do you mean, 'ha'!" "I mean 'ha'. You couldn't beat me if you tried." "I wasn't even trying and I beat you at basketball." "But who ended up on the ground?" It took every bit of Kristin's self-control to stop herself from slapping him. "You are a soar looser. Face it, JC. You lost." Unable to stand the sight of him any longer, Kristin stole the ball from JC's hands and began to walk in the direction of the parks parking lot. As she walked to the lot, her blue eyes fell upon a person she'd know from anywhere. "Hey, Beautiful. Are you ready for some real one on one?" he asked in a flirtatious way. "I'm not in the mood for you, Joey?!" Kristin tried to continue her fast pace toward her car, but felt Joey wrap his arm around her waist. "I take it you had another run in with JC." "I swear to God, Joe, if you don't keep him away from me, I'm going to end up killing him!" "You're the one that keeps accepting his challenges." "What am I supposed to do? I can't let hi think that I'm afraid of him." "Come hang out with us, Kristin. We'll see a movie or something." "Is he coming?" Yes. That would be the concept of 'we'." Kristin gave Joey an evil look. "Joey, I've been friends with your for longer than I can remember. You know that I love hanging out with. But when that thing is coming, you'll just have to go without me." "Is there anyway that you and JC will be friends anytime soon?" "I don't now. Is Hell going to freeze over any time soon?" Kristin turned once again and walked out to her car. Joey sighed as he watched her walk toward her car. He walked in the direction Kristin had come from toward JC who was practicing his three pointers. JC looked up as he was about to shoot the ball. "Hey Joey." "Hey." Joey sighed. "What happened here today, Jace?" "The same thing that always happens when Kristin and I are with in 100 ft. of each other. All Hell broke loose." "Why don't you stop challenging her to games? I mean, if you can't stand her company, why do you keep finding ways to be with her? Do you like her or something?" JC stopped dribbling the ball and stared blankly at his friend. "I can't believe you just asked me that question. Joey, it'll be a cold day in hell before I have any feelings other than contempt for that girl!" Joey raised his hands in surrender. "Sorry, Man. It was just a question." "Like Kristin? Yeah right. That'll be the day. That girl really knows how to push my buttons. I just want her out of my life." "Stop pushing her buttons Jace and she'll stop pushing yours." "Me? Push buttons? Never." JC looked shocked at the accusations. Joey rolled his eyes. "Yeah, whatever. "********************************************************************************************** Kristin walked through the door of her home and saw her roommate on the coach looking at a magazine. "Libby, what is wrong with that brother of yours? What on Earth does he see in JC?" Libby lifted her dark brown eyes from her magazine and looked at her life long friend. "I'm not sure what Joey sees in him. I think he's hot." "I hope that's not what Joey see in him. He and I will have words." Libby laughed. "Kristin, if you hate JC so much then why do you hang around him so much?" "Joey asked me the same thing. I guess twins really do think a like." "What did you tell Joey?" "When he challenges me I can't back down." "I think you just like him." "Like JC? Like that thing?! Yeah right! And monkeys could come flying out of my butt. It could never like that thin." "Oh. Can I have him?" Kristin laughed. "I don't know why you'd want him, but sure. He's all yours. Just keep him away from me." |
