Chapter 4
Joey and Libby met up in the hallway of their house between the two bedrooms.  They both looked at each other, confusion in their eyes.

"Have you seen, JC?"
"Have you seen, Kristin?"

Their question came out at the same time and more confusion came as they realized both of their friends were missing.  "I don't get it.  I won't up this morning and he wasn't on the floor."

"Yeah, when I woke up Kristin...wait a second.  You make JC sleep on the floor?"

"Yeah."

"Joey do you know how rude that is?  You try sleeping on the floor sometime.  It's not a fun experience."

"Which is why I don't sleep on the floor."

"I don't have time to teach you a lesson in manners.  I'm really worried about Kristin.  And JC.  Where could they have gone together?"

Joey looked at his sister, concern in his eyes.  "Do you think they killed each other last night after we went back to bed?"

"Anything is possible with those two."  Libby sighed.  "Let's go find them."

The two walked down the stair of their home and headed for the kitchen.  They heard a couple of low voices speaking civil to each other.  Libby and Joey looked at each other in disbelief when they realized the voices belonged to their two rival friends.  "This is like some weird twilight zone."

Joey and Libby entered the kitchen and saw their friends sitting at the counter where they had been sitting the night before arguing.  This time they were talking peacefully with one another.  "Is today April Fool's Day?" Joey asked.

"I don't think so.  The last time I checked it was May."

JC and Kristin looked up and saw their two confused friends staring at them.  "Morning, Guys," Kristin said.

"Morning," they hesitated.  "What's going on guys?"

"What do you mean?" JC asked.

"Well, you guys aren't killing each other.  What happened?"

"Nothing happened.  She just hasn't pissed me off yet," Kristin said forcing herself to remember that she was JC to them.

"Excused me?  You're the one that usually says something stupid to piss me off," JC replied.

"You're just upset that you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.  The side of the bed that you were sleeping in alone instead of with me."  Kristin tried her best to say things that she would normally hear from JC's mouth so she wouldn't alert her friends to what was going on with the two of them.

"JC, any side of your bed would be the wrong side."  JC caught on to what Kristin was doing and decided it was for the best that way.  Libby and Joey would never believe their story and probably would commit them to an insane asylum.

"You'll never know until you try."

"You don't have to try poison to know that it kills."

Kristin tried to keep herself from smiling.  JC obviously didn't realize that all he was doing was making himself look bad in front of Joey and Libby and making Kristin look good.  "I'm going to go take a shower," JC said suddenly.  Maybe he had realized the same thing she had.  Kristin ran in front of JC to stop him.

"Oh, no you don't," she whispered harshly.  "You're not going to be alone with my body."

"How do you suggest we do this then?  'Cause frankly, Girl, you stink."

Kristin glared into her own eyes.  "Don't touch anything!"

"See that's the beauty of it, Kristin.  You'll never know one way or the other."

"You're such an ass!"

JC smiled wickedly at Kristin and left the kitchen.  She turned around and faced the curious looks of her friends.  "She's such a bitch."  Kristin walked back to the counter and sat down taking a sip of the coffee she'd poured for herself.  She looked up and saw Joey and Libby staring at her.  "What?"

"What's going on here, Jace?  You and Kristin were talking like you two were friends and then we came in here and you two were at each others throats.  What were you two talking about?"

"I wanted to know where Kristin works and she wouldn't tell me.  But I don't care where that hoe bag works anyway."

"Come on, JC.  Don't say that.  Kristin deserves her privacy.  And you shouldn't call her a bitch, or a hoe bag.  You two should really try to get along.  I don't want my best friend and the guy I..." Joey and Kristin looked at Libby awaiting for her to continue what she was saying, "...and the guy that is my brother's best friend to get along.  Is that too much to ask?"

"When it comes to him, and me...I mean her, yes that's too much to ask.  We just don't get along, Libby.  You'll just have to accept that."

Upstairs in the bathroom, JC had turned the water on and waited for it to warm up.  Feeling the warm water wash over his hand, he removed the hand from his water and placed it on the collar of Kristin's nightgown.  He sighed as he began to pill it off over Kristin's head.  He paused a moment before continuing.

Finally, after all this time, I finally get to see Kristin naked. JC looked in the mirror and saw Kristin's eyes staring back at him.  He lowered his eyes unable to look into her eyes any longer. I can't do this.  Not this way. JC turned his back toward the mirror and proceeded to take off the nightgown, his eyes never looked down, but remained on the ceiling.

Kristin dreaded this moment most of all.  She found herself alone in the bathroom, awaiting the water to heat up.  Pulling off the shirt she had placed over JC's well-defined body earlier that morning, she now stood in front of the bathroom mirror, looking down at JC's well defined chest.

Good Lord, this guy has a nice body.  Too bad he's such a jerk. She lifted her eyes to the ceiling where JC had stared an hour before hand, to avoid looking at Kristin's body.  Now Kristin stared upward not wanting to look down.  She stepped into the shower, her eyes still looking up.  The warm water cleansed JC's soft skin.  As Kristin felt the warm beads of water falling upon her, her eyes slowly started to drift down.  No!  Her eyes went back to the roof.  Once again, her eyes began to fall.  Well, it's not like he didn't do more than just look. Her eyes fell down to the portion of JC's body she never thought she'd see.  Her eyebrows lifted in small surprise.  Wow, I thought it'd be bigger.

JC picked up the electrical appliance on Libby's dresser.  He looked over this blow dryer, confusion over his face. Why do girls have to use this stupid thing?  Haven't they ever heard of a thing called air dry?  Well, tough luck, Kristin.  I'm you for today.  You're going natural. JC put down the blow dryer and picked up the brush in front of him.  He looked through the vanity mirror in front of him and saw Kristin's friend Libby standing behind him.

"Hey, Libby.  What's up?"

"Aren't you going to blow dry your hair?"

"No, I thought I'd leave it curly today."

"I thought you had that promotion meeting today."

"I do."

"I thought you said curly hair makes your face look fatter."

"I just don't feel like doing it today."

"Whatever floats your boat.  So tell me, why were you and JC discussing your job?  Why does he want to know where you work?"

"JC doesn't..." He thought quickly about the time that Kristin, Joey and Libby were in the kitchen together and what she must have told them.  "Did he tell you that?"

"Yeah, he said that you and him were just talking about where you work."

"I don't know why he wants to know.  He's just being nosy I guess."  JC fought the urge to praise himself to Libby.  He knew that was slightly out of character.  "You know how he is."

"He's never shown an interest in where you work before.  But why wouldn't you tell him?  You're not ashamed of working at Blossom's, are you?"

"Blossom's!  She works at..."  The thought of his rival working at Orlando's equivalent to Hooters was too good to be true.  JC looked at the confused look on Libby's face and quickly changed his demeanor.  "No, I'm not ashamed of it.  I just don't want him to know.  You know how much of a jerk he could be.  If he know I worked there..." JC fought the smile coming to Kristin's face, "...he'd never let me hear the end of it."

"I think you're a little mean to him, Kristin.  He's really a sweet guy.  Sweet and oh so good looking.  What I wouldn't give to just go out on one date with him."

JC turned to her and looked at her in disbelief.  "You like me...I mean, JC?!  When did this happen?!"

"Don't you remember?  I told you last night.  I can't believe you forgot."

"I guess I was trying to block out the memories.  Refresh me, what was my reaction when you told me that you like JC."  A smile spread over Kristin's face as JC scooted closer to Libby to give her his full attention.  This was JC's chance to find out what she truly felt about him.  Maybe this switch wasn't such a bad thing after all.

"Well, before I told you I asked if you liked him."

"And I said..." Kristin's smile widened.

"You said, 'Like JC?  Like that thing?!  Yeah right!  And monkeys could come flying out of my butt.  It could never like that thing.'"

Kristin lowered her eyes.  "Oh."

Libby looked over Kristin's suddenly sad face and became confused.  "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine.  You know,...I've just got cramps."

"I didn't know it was your time of the month."

Oh, God.  Girls actually do talk about these things.  "So finish your story."

"Oh yeah, so when you said that you didn't like him and never would, I asked if I could have him.  You said you didn't know why I'd want him but he's all mine.  All I have to do is keep him away from you."

An idea popped into JC's mind, followed by a smile appearing on Kristin's face.  "You know what, I think that you should make your move on him.  I think he likes you."

"Really?  You think so?  How do you know?"

"Are you kidding?  He's always talking about you.  About how he wants to go out with you and stuff."  JC realized how this might not sound like the Kristin Libby had come to know.  "It's really sickening really."

"But do you think I should ask him out?  I mean, if he talks about how much he likes me, don't you think that he'll eventually ask me out?"

"I think that he's a little shy when it comes to asking girls out.  It's revolting really.  But I think you should ask him out soon.  Today really.  Actually, forget the talking, just go in for the kill."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you should kiss her...I mean him."

A smile spread over Libby's face.  "Thank you so much, Kristin.  How could I ever repay you."

"No thanks necessary.  Your happiness is thanks enough."  A smug smile crossed over Kristin's face. Well, your happiness and Kristin being miserable.  How can I resist?
