| The Choir of Saints Peter & Paul performs a valued and necessary ministry at the parish. The Choir's voice adds to the beauty and solemnity of the sacred liturgy. The Choir's focus is leading the congregation in sung prayer and ministering through sacred art. The Choir is composed of approximately 15 persons, both professional and volunteer musicians. All members are dedicated to the ministry of the choir and enjoy the opportunity of singing in a relatively small group. The Choir sings classical sacred "standards," but also studies newer compositions and arrangements. Our repertoire includes Gregorian and Anglican Chant, Early Music, Classical, Roamntic works, American Spirituals, contemporary works from composers such as John Rutter and newer liturgical music. The Choir offers the annual Candlelight Carol Sing at Christmastime. This prayerful program of Advent and Christmas music has become a treasured time for many in our parish and in the community of Hoboken. The Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM and sings at the Mass at 10:30 AM. New members are encouraged to inquire about singing with the group. To schedule an informal audition, please contact the Music Director, Louis Scarpa. |
