Drove from Florence, SC to Columbia, SC this morning (about an hour drive). Visited the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. It was great. Lots of walking. There was a garden area to visit across the Saluda River. I took advantage of that, as well. It was a relatively cool day - overcast - so the hot sun didn't exhaust me. |

This poor fellow was trying so hard to reach the leaves. He wasn't successful.
Later on, I saw him grabbing some leaves from a closer tree.
This particular species of elephant grow horns throughout their life. They are not actually horns, but teeth.
Amazing things one learns at the zoo. |
