Hiking With Hoey
includes more than just hiking.
Welcome to the "Hiking with Hoey" page. This page is to keep my buddies in the loop of what I am planning on doing and to invite them along. This year I have several things planned but the only one I hammered out so far is a six to eight day hike through Allegheny National Forest. But you can always check back here to catch up with me.

Anyways here is how its gonna work. I will post anything I have planned and anybody else is welcome to do the same. I will have a little subscription form to fill out so I can create a members page so if you don't know somebody you can contact them about something. Also I really only want people who I know and can trust to be part of this at the beginning to see how law suits are done.

What:
Hiking eight days for over 70 miles minimum. Rustic camping along the way.

Time:
June 18th 10:00AM we start at Willow Bay in Allegheny National Forest. The trip ends June 26th for me at Kellettville Army Corp of Engineers camp ground or further. It all depends on what happens on the trail althogh I would like to be near Marrienville at the end. There is a schedule at the bottom of the page and a map.

Place: The entire trip will be inside the Allegheny National Forest

Group Leader: You guys will be on your own for the most part as I plan to give everybody their own map like the one at the bottom. There will be set campgrounds for each night and you can hike with whomever you like and meet us at the campground. At the bottom there is a link to purchase a guide book.

Additional: Due to the amount of first timers going on this trip I would like to have one meeting in May to make sure everybody has a guide, map, checklist of things to bring, and a better understanding of the trip. This meeting will be at the Oakie, beer not provided. I also have my gear list at the bottom of the page.

A guide book is available for purchase here. You will want to purchase the "HUTCHINS GUIDEBOOK" for all of Pennsylvania. I have ordered several guide books and this one is the best. It is the book I used to plan the trip.
Trip has been modified for the larger group of people now expected to go. Some of the group will only be with us for the first weekend and then leave to return to work while others may show up later. That is why it is now a eight day trip with shorter hiking miles per day.
Baker Trail: Somewhere?
What:
Three day hike on the Baker Trail

Time:
May 27th - 30th
Place: Meet at my place I guess?

Group Leader: Hoey

Additional: This trip is just for fun. No planned distance and no planned section yet. It may just turn into a three day bushwack for all I know. It would be nice to start at Kelly Station with a party and then head to Crooked Creek for fishing and beyound if we want. I may or may not have a guide book. I will most likely have to call for a ride when its all over with. Hell, at best I will be lost without a ride and low on food by the end....
