HOW I BECAME A DIANA ROSS FAN:

My story is a very unique one that I think to this day is very strange and odd. I was watching an episode of "Gimmie A Break" one day and Nell Carter and the others on the show were reliving their days as teenagers listening and performing songs by various girl groups. One of the girl groups they were singing to was the Supremes. After I saw that episode every time I heard a Supremes song on the radio I would say there is my singers. I would say that because I never had a favorite group or singer. I used to just listen to anything that was on. I guess I fell into Diana. It started off as me just saying that was my group and suddenly I found myself buying Supremes tapes and other collections that were released. One of my first Supremes albums was the 25 Anniversary collection with all of their hit songs on one tape and other less popular songs on the second tape. I would play that tape day and night. I started off only liking the Supremes and I just couldn't understand why Diana would leave them. Now I see why Diana did it and I have grown to like Diana more as a solo performer. One of the first songs I heard by only Diana was "Do You Know Where You're Going To?". Now, every time I think of how I started liking Diana I have to laugh because it truly is a stupid story, but that stupid story really helped me grow!

Dear Fans,
I grew up on Diana Ross and the Supreme's. They were the sound
coming out of the transistor radio's and straight into every
pre-teen's earphone!!!!!! So, I have been a fan since the early
sixties. Then I did a research paper on Ms. Ross last year and
I realized just how important she is in the history of music.
I gained new incite and volumes of respect for the lady.

I became a fan of Diana in 1994 when I saw her at the Oprah Winfrey show. I
always have liked Diana's music, but after seeing that show, I really
became interested in her career. I began buying her music, her book, "Secrets of a Sparrow. Then,
when I saw a commercial on Dutch TV which said "Diana Ross live in
concert", I immediately rushed to get tickets for that show. And after
that, there hasn't been a day that I haven't listened to her music.

Never before has a person touched my life so completely in
the manner which Diana Ross has. For over twenty four
years, she has been an inspiration in my life, the key to a
greater awareness as to who I am. In the search to find
myself, I was fortunate to have come upon this special lady
of song.

For most of my life I was a lost soul, unable to articulate my
feelings. Words collided within my mind, I could not
communicate my deepest emotions to any one person. As a
child the lack of comprehension was a hindrance in my life
and would follow me into my teenage years.

In 1972 I began to break free of these invisible barriers.
This was the year I saw Diana Ross in "Lady Sings the
Blues". Years of unexplained emotions found a home within
my mind, my heart. I was, for the first time, learning to let
go of the invisible constraints that for so long encircled my
soul, and Diana Ross was there for me in song.

Thank you, Diana, for bringing about the many changes in
my life. Thank you for being able to 'Reach Out & Touch'."
Ralph
