THE NIGHT BEFORE XMAS, THE NIGHTHAWK WAY

by Pat Weier (Sparks)-Nighthawk Commando

It was the night before Christmas.
And Frankie was sad.
For nobody wanted him,
cause he had grease on his head.

Murdock his buddy,
was loony you see.
And Frankie and him,
were two, not three.

So Murdock asked each Nighthawk,
their wishes for Xmas.
"Get rid of Frankie,
or we’ll break all the dishes."

The Nighthawks were snuggled,
asleep in their beds,
with visions of Frankie,
with the TEMPS instead.

So silently Murdock crept down the stairs,
he called on his buddies, Hannibal, Face & BA.
To come and join him,
in a ‘Big trade, I’m afraid."

Face was against this,
right from the start.
"What will I tell them,
my TEMPs have my heart.

‘This wasn’t the time,
 for faintheartedness’ said BA.
"The greaseball is history,
let’s get on our way."

They gagged and bagged Frankie,
BA drove the van.
They went to TEMP quarters,
as fast as they can.

"But Hannibal," Face pleaded
"You can’t do this to me."
What will the TEMPs do,
when they wake up and see."

"Face, Murdock is nuts,
I’m sure you can see.
Would you want a fruitcake,
playing around YOUR tree?"

Face unlocked the room,
that was a shrine you see,
for they contained the silk jammies,
that was precious to thee.

Hannibal snatched the jammies,
and tucked them out of sight.
Left the bag full of Frankie
right out in plain sight.

The next morning,
the TEMPs woke with a start.
They ran to the shrine,
and it stilled their hearts.

For there on the mantle,
where the jammies did lay.
Was a bunch of grease dripping,
like a car on oil change day.

At Nighthawk HQ,
there was gladness and joy.
The hawks were so happy,
they sang to the boys.

"Oh Hannibal, Oh Face,
 Oh Murdock and BA
you have given us a gift,
what can we say?"

Hannibal said "sush!"
There’s nothing to say.
Decker is coming,
we must be on our way.

As the A-team departed
and dashed out of sight.
Face could be heard,
whining all night.
