NOV. 18, 2004 John Cena arrived at SmackDown! as a healthy challenger, eager to regain his United States Championship. He left a hurting champion. You might recall that Cena’s last SmackDown! appearance was a nightmare. Back on Oct. 7, Cena lost his United States Championship to Carlitol and then later suffered puncture wounds near the kidney area when a brawl erupted outside of a Boston nightclub. But his return would be triumphant. With Carlito competing with an injured shoulder, Cena dominated the match, quickly dispatching of the cocky newcomer with a FU to the delight of the Dayton, Ohio crowd. PHOTOS Still, Cena couldn’t fully enjoy his moment, as brutish Carlito associate Jesus attacked Cena after the match, taking Cena’s steel chain and punching the new champion in the kidney area. WATCH: 56k | 300k Cena would be carried from the ring on a stretcher. Meanwhile, JBL got some disconcerting news. After the WWE Champion made an impassioned victory speech, jilted contenders Booker T, Eddie Guerrero and Undertaker came out demanding championship rematches. General Manager Theodore Long then entered the picture, denying all three Superstars individual rematches. However, Long, as usual had some major news: JBL will defend his championship in a Fatal Four Way Match against Booker T, Latino Heat and Undertaker at Armageddon on Dec. 12 in Atlanta. WATCH: 56k | 300k It was also a tough night for Chris Nawrocki, who was the latest eliminated from the $1,000,000 Tough Enough competition. The remaining five finalists played a game of Capture The Flag against the Basham Brothers, who denied all five competitors from snatching victory. The first installment of Kurt Angle’s Invitational took place Thursday, as Angle invited hometown hero Dean Visk into the ring. Angle announced that anyone who happens to defeat him will get his 1996 Olympic Gold Medal. Visk ended up in the ankle lock, tapping out in front of his friends and family. WATCH: 56k | 300k Also, the Heidenreich saga continued. And it doesn’t appear the unstable monster has gotten over his loss to Undertaker at Surivivor Series. Heidenreich inexplicably walked out during the middle of his match with Charlie Haas, then stepped over the retaining wall, collapsed and appeared to have a mental breakdown in front of the fans. WATCH: 56k | 300k WWE Tag Team Champions Kenzo Suzuki & Renee Dupree took on Rob Van Dam & Rey Mysterio in a non-title match. And the high-flying team of RVD & Mysterio won a thrilling contest, making their case for a legitimate title shot in the near future. NOV. 20, 2004 Velocity will feature Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak in tag-team action against Funaki and Nunzio. The Boss, Spike Dudley, will take on Hardcore Holly and Akio will face Shannon Moore in cruiserweight competition. Big Show will be put to the test in a handicap match this week on Velocity as well. There will be plenty of highlights from last week's SmackDown! main event that featured John Cena's comeback match against Carlito for the United States Championship and from the $1,000,000 Tough Enough competition |
