7/27/02: It has taken awhile, but the new Uncle Dan demo, Another Exercise In Class & Sophistication is completely finished and ready to be shipped to those who want a copy. The initial reaction has been very good with most people saying it makes them want to shake it--making people want to dance qualifies as good, in my book! Lots of influences being thrown around with Iggy and the Stooges being the most name checked by folks. There's a song called "Jalopy Blues" which should appeal to fans of the Jon Spenser Blues Exploision or RL Burnside. There are two covers, one being "You're Alone Now" by Sam Gopal (Lemmy's pre-Motorhead, pre-Hawkwind, post-Rocking Vickers band) which I think has a bit of a Gun Club feel, with those low Elvis styled crooning vocals from the last demo. Then there is a cover of "Vivarin" originally done by my friend Megan Carberry. I don't think it's as good as the cover she did of my tune "She Comes," but I've grown to tolerate what I came up with, after several listens. There is a bit of a Gories vibe to how it came out, though obviously not as good as the Gories. Anyway, the first track off the demo is up on soundclick.com--"She's Thick." More will be posted as the months roll on but that's all to start. If you like what you hear and want a copy of the demo, drop me a line here. Enjoy! |
