Chapter 2
"Don't let go!" Kevin screamed into the thin air of the night.
Her eyes helplessly searched his as he clung to her hand against the edge of the cliff."Please,"she begged.
"Hold on fair maiden,"he uttered as he felt his grip loosening on her hand.
He reached for her other hand to no avail as she plunged to the rocky shore below.
He woke up in a cold sweat.  He looked around to find himself safe and sound in the comfort of his bed but where were these dreams coming from.  Night after night, she haunted him.   An endless nightmare he needed the answers to.  Why him?  Was he the reason she plunged to her untimely death?  He didn't know and yet it was so familiar to him.  She was from another time no doubt but where did he fit into this small motion picture being created in his mind.  This had to be something he was concocting but he could never come up with anything this good.  At least he never  believed he could.
The morning light and the phone incessant tone brought him some comfort.  At least he knew he was in the twentieth century for now."Heya cuz!  You awake yet ?"
"I am now.  What's going on?"
"That's what I'd like to ask you."
"Excuse me?"
"I called you in the middle of the night to pick Leigh and I up at the airport like you were supposed to and you were muttering something about a fair maiden.  Where do you come up with these dreams man?"
"Sorry.  So where did you end up last night anyway?"
"We stayed at a hotel by the airport."
"Sorry."
"So where in the world were you last night?"
"I wish I knew.   I can tell you anything right without you laughing at it?"
"That I can't guarantee but you can tell me.  Go on."
"It's this dream I've been constantly having.  I think I'm going nuts Bri'."
"A lot of us have recurring dreams."
"About damsels in distress and all that good stuff because I keep letting this girl go in my dreams.  I don't know what it means."
"It means you're letting go of something in your life.  Maybe it means you've finally started letting go of  Kristin.  I don't know, I'm just a singer, not a professional head shrinker Kev."
"Maybe you're right but would it be so crazy for me to see one?"
"I  don't know.  It's probably just a dream.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Are we still your house guests for the weekend though?"
"You're family.  Of course you are.  Tell me where you're at and I'll come get you."
"Okay buddy.  See you in a little while."
"See ya,"Kevin hung up the phone and jumped back twenty feet.  There she was; again.  He rubbed his eyes and she was still there.   In broad daylight.  Help! was his first thought.    She smiled and simply communicated her thoughts against his.  Do not be frightened she insisted.  I need your help.
How can I help? he responded.
Follow me.
I can't.  Not now.  What was he thinking? Not now.  Not ever.
But you must help me.  You are the only one that can save me.
Will I not be able to save you this evening fair lady?
I will givest thou the hours of light and the darkness shall give me you unconditionally.
Until then he responded and she disappeared into thin air.  Did he just agree to give her his attention tonight?  What was he thinking?  Why was he talking like this?  He wasn't was the problem.
