GRAND ALUMNAE HOMECOMING
January 26, 2003
Sunday
This is the day we waited and longed for.
And finally...

As Malene and I entered Pedro Gil Main Gate,
we could not resist but get impressed with the cooperation extended by the college students.
They were present on a Sunday to usher us to the Registration Center.
My heart goes to them, the young Paulinian ladies. Thank you!
We were handed a
schedule of events for the day.

As I stood and watched for a couple of minutes, I saw that pride in every alumnae.
Funny thing is, I felt it too.  It was a great feeling to be back to school.

A charming and hospitable lady approached us that morning.
She spent a lot of time with us even though the topic was the horror experiences we had under her.
She even offered us use of her "private" office, as she noticed most of us had duffel bags loaded with props.
She is no other than Mrs. Fortes...yes gehls...CAT herself!!
and believe me, she has not changed a bit.

Sooner than we thought, the black and white ladies grew in number.
After mass, came the pictorials.
First, a photo shot of all alumnae present,
then it was followed by each Jubilarian Class, from the Golden down to Silver.
And since each group took forever,
we decided to experiment in the no smoking zone.
Would they kick us out, issue a demerit for smoking?
hmmm...none of the above, we were left untouched.
Mass commenced close to an hour later than scheduled.
An alumnae with her microphone requested repeadtedly that the entry into the chapel be orderly.
Honestly, we all tried to obey, but to no avail.
The magnificent Cross still hovers above our favorite steps,
though these steps are lesser now since the campus had a facelift.
The interior of the chapel still maintains the elegance, thanks to the beautiful hardwood flooring.
It was supposed to be Bishop Rolando Tirona to officiate the mass,
but for some reason or the other, he could not make it.
Nevertheless, the priest who officiated the mass sounded exactly like our dear Father Reuter.
There was also this nun with a beautiful voice who led the responsorial psalm.
Well, now I have to investigate the two names.
Could it be my "ganadociousness" to sing the Alma Mater Hymn that I didn't bother to keep their names?
Well, have to admit anyways.  As I sang, tears symbolic of pride and joy, rolled down.
This probably triggered my sinusitis!! oh well...

And finally, our turn!
The High School Class 1978
Silver Jubilarians 2003
We had to beg the photographers to quit...
there was a treat for lunch at the Function Room of SPCM
HRM's Training Center.
Remember Tenessee Gate? The Shelter?
Well that area has been turned into a training center with complete amenities of a First Class Hotel.
Food was prepared by our future chefs, the Paulinians themselves.

We then proceeded to the Fleur de Lis Auditorium.
The first part of the program was a General Membership Meeting of the Alumnae.
There is a proposal to change the Alumnae Association into a Foundation.
I will update you more on this in the near future.  Watch out for it in this website..
