Tom's F-100 Homepage |
Here we are getting ready to take the cab off the frame. We're going to use the boom on the back of the tractor to lift the cab and then move it under the shed. This is my son-in-law and his tractor. |
The boom wouldn't lift the cab high enough using a strap through the windows so we secured a 4x4 to the top of the boom and lifted the cab from the inside. This worked just fine. |
We left the engine and transmission on the frame. Both have been rebuilt recently. The engine is going to get an aluminum intake with a 4 barrel and headers before we put everything back together. The frame will be cleaned and painted with POR-15. I also plan on replacing all the brake lines, hoses and master cylinder. Found a newer F-100 with disc brakes and may use it to convert this one. |
This is an F-250 I bought for parts. Although it doesn't look like it has much for parts, it has a good radiator core support, good glass, and a heavy duty 9 leaf rear suspension,a Dana rear end with 4:56 gears and 8 lug axles. I plan to use the rear suspension and Dana rear end on my F-100. Would that make it an F-175?? |
Well, winter is well behind us now. I was hoping to get started back on the truck in spring before it got hot but a very important event delayed me. Check this link to find out www.oocities.org/iantword what could take me away from my project. I'm finally getting going but it's July now and the temperature is 98 degrees with the heat index at 110. But, got alot to do and can't put it off forever. Want to get the truck competed before winter comes again. |
