| BSc in Aquaculture, Univeristy of Fisheries (UoF), Nha Trang, Vietnam 10/1989-07/1994 |
| Five years were not a long time, but enough to shape my interest and strengths in Aquaculture. Breeding and growing Aquaculture species have become a passion. I felt I belong to Aquaculture, the University and Nha Trang city when graduated in 1994. | Lecturer, Aquaculture Faculty, University of Fisheries, Nha Trang, Vietnam 05/1995-10/1996 |
| Being a lecturer was an honour for me. I started working and thinking about what I should do. To be an established scientist, who is able to identify problems in aquaculture practices and solve them effectively, is my ultimate aspiration. I left the University in 10/1996 when granted an MSc scholarship from Asian Institute of Technology, but will be back to fulfill my dreams. |
| M.Sc in Aquaculture, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand 10/1996-08/1998 |
| Apart from the academic achievements, research and practical experiences and self-development skills, friendship is the most valuable thing that I've gained from my MSc study at AIT. It helped us to overcome all the hard works and kept us in joys. I learnt a lot from our excellent faculties, who come from all over the world, dedicating for the development of Asian countries. | Research Associate, Aquaculture and Aquatic Resource Management, AIT 09/1998-03/1999 |
| The job gave me a good break, having time to re-orient myself in the wide world of Aquaculture. Working for PD-CRSP was so interesting since I like "Water Quality Management for Aquaculture" pretty much. That was also the time I learnt how to think more practically and work wisely from my respectful supervisors. I knew I was on the right track and waiting for a chance to move further. Opportunities came and went. Among them I picked up one offerred by Griffith Univeristy and the Australian Goverment. I left AIT for a new challenge in Australia. |
| PhD in Marine Biology, ASC, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia 03/1999-06/2002 |
| My research is still purely Aquaculture. It studied the controlling effects of environmental factors on reproduction of pond-reared banana prawn, Penaeus merguiensis . This research enriched my knowledge and experience in shrimp maturation. Thanks to it, I found my interest in domestication and selective breeding for both P. monodon and P. merguiensis. | Lecturer, University of Fisheries, NhaTrang, Vietnam from August 2002 |
| Back to where I used to be, full of enthusiams to contribute to the development of the university and the aquaculture industry in Vietnam. |
| IUCN - National Aquaculture Specialist from August 2002 |
| This dual position has given me a great opportunity to join an excellent team at Hon Mun MPA Pilot Project, based in Nha Trang. Although the main aim is to protect biodiversity and the environment in Nha Trang Bay from destructive fishing and inappropriate usage of natural resources, the project has also been dedicated to improve livelihoods of local fishermen through several options, of which aquaculture appears to be the favourite. Aquaculture trials include cobia, grouper and rabbit fish in cages; seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) farming and a bit on green mussels, sea cucumber. |
