| The Balatoc Mines Tour The Philippines' First and Only Mining Attraction! Using the rehabilitated underground Vegas tunnel, it remains the centerpiece and the most popular attraction of the Benguet Mines Tourism Village in view of its educational value and thrilling experience. In 1998, it won the "Promotion of the Year" award from the Dept. of Tourism - CAR. The following may are the highlights of the mines tour: · a walk through the mines museum showing rock samples that present gold in its native form and antique equipment used by the miners, and a display of underground mining equipment along the route to the tunnel. · an experience of the miner's life featuring various underground mining activities. · an informative briefing on the milling process of the gold ore until the production of the gold bullion. · an experience of a lifetime riding the underground mine train. The Villaluna Center The Villaluna Center Complex consists of the former Staff Mess Hall of the company with dormitory-style bedrooms, the former staff cottages and apartments, a multi-purpose hall for meetings, conferences and indoor recreation activities, and a swimming pool and spa. The Complex provides the accommodation facility to support the Balatoc Mines Tour. |
