Our first show as "Mourning Wood."  We played at the Lancaster Legion.  We put a lot of work into the show.  Hours before the show, Brett and I had to drive all the way back to Thief River for my drumset.  Whats funny about it is that we didn't even us it.  The bar was full with about two-hundred people, although only about 20 of them watched us.  Looking back at the tape, we played pretty bad and realize how much work we had to do before our next show.  We have since done a lot of work and put in a lot of practice time, and added a few more songs and a few more ideas for the next show.  Thank you all who came there and supported the wood.  See ya all on the flip.  I'm out.

We played the Bar in Emerson.  It was one of the most fun night of our lives.  The people that came to see us were awesome and seemed to have a lot of fun as well.  Sound wise, I think we played really well.  As I watch the tape, our sound and how we played was really good, but I am really disappointed in how we performed.  We are heavily lacking in the stage presence department.  I know that there is no way to practice stage presence other than being on stage and becoming comfortable in front of an audience.  I know that the next performance will be better.  We still have a lot of work to do, and most of us realize that and are willing to put forth the amount of time and effort it takes.  I know that my hands are calloused from my drum sticks and my drum heads are damn near worn-out.  Looking to the future, We plan on working in some of our own material along with the covers.  I have written a few songs that are completely finished, guitars, drums, and vocals.  Its just a matter of getting them ready.  I am confident that they will be tight and everyone in the band will be ready for our next show.  Hope to see all of you in Emerson again.  I'm out.

The night before the gig we went out to Angie's cabin to do some practicing for the show the next night.  We haven't practiced together as a band for almost two weeks.  Musically it went really well, but vocally we started to have problems.  Joe was unwilling to stretch his voice.  He seems to think he knows everything about being in a band.  (this is his first)  So we got into a fight.  I am starting to get sick of having to practice without a vocalist cause he is to lazy to practice.  I am maybe being a little bit harsh, but I take music very seriously.  The next morning we woke up early after a night of partying till late.  I was the first one up, and had to personally go around and wake everyone up one by one.  There was about 20 people that stayed there.  After we loaded everything up in the freezing cold, we headed to the border.  After two hours of me talking to all the heads and patrol there, we ran into a problem.  He told us to cross that we needed 450 bucks.  Thanks to everyone there, each person chipped in and we put together the money.  We planned on paying everyone back in full after we were paid by the bar owner.  We all went out to eat together which when I look back was really stupid.  We got on stage and did alot better then expected.  The same amount of people showed, but less were let into the bar, so that kinda sucked.  We played three 35 minute sets.  I jammed out so hardcore that after the last song (Faith) of the 3rd set I puked all over my drum set and all over the floor.  Then I passed out in my own puke.  I was so drained of energy.  Luckily for me, Baker and Dr. Evil carried me outside to get some air and to pump me full of water.  For a minute there, I had no idea where I was.  The party afterwards was awesome.  It marked the return of P Didds drinking.  He lit his own farts all night long.  It was fun.  I don't really remember much of the night.  I had a lot to drink after the show.  The next morning the band had a meeting.  It was not a good one.  It was basically a huge fight with Joe.  He seems to be really worried about money.  All he seems to care about is that he getting paid.  He thinks it is a business.  That pisses me off.  I got really upset.  Although we did get paid 450 bucks to cover the border charge, that was not enough for Joe.  I myself have had enough of him.  He brings the band down in so many ways.  Talent, stage presence, attitude, and most important having fun.  He is no longer in the band.  He was kicked out.  I am looking forward to taking a break from Mourning Wood for a while and concentrate on writing my own music.  I have put together a new band that I am playing guitar in.  I am really having fun again.  It feels nice tot to have all those conflicts that were on my sholders in Mourning Wood.  I hope Bret, Ross, Paul, and I can get back together in a few months and start to think about the future.  Brett, Ross, and Paul are my best friends, and being in a band together is like being brothers, you don't just quite being brothers.  In the early days of MW, I had alot of fun when we were all in it to have fun.  With Joe perminately gone, I think we will get bac to that.  Thanks to all the peeps who have came to all the shows.  I feel bad that we had to cancel the rest of "the tour", but we have no choice really.  Once school is out, we will have alot more time.  Gotsta run yall.  I'm out.
