histoire de gitch.

GITCH: a history.

Well, the story of gitch is full of laughs, tears and mixed feelings... ...once upon a time there were four boys. David, Cody, Ty and Trev. Dave, Cody and Ty had been friends all throughout junior high and were always talking about starting an 'emo' band, but actually never acted on it, because they knew not of any drummers. Trev attended a different junior high. He went through his junior high days playing drums in a punk band called "Sawed-off Slingshot." He liked punk, but he had an uncanny love for 'emo' music. Being the only one at his school who liked it, he felt lost and alone. Until the next year... ...at Mountain View High School, Trev was walking along and saw a boy with a No Knife shirt on (Dave). He talked to the three guys and soon found out each others desire to start an 'emo' band. Ty played the guitar, Dave played the bass, and Cody sang and guitared, while Trev played the drums. They jammed for the first time in August of 1999, under the name "Pink." They underwent several name changes, such as "Socrates Johnson", "Dropout 101", "Atreyu", and "Ashley Inline." But finally stuck with the name "Five Caliber Nine." They appeared at many parties and at a local indy rock club called Modified that year. When the summer of 2000 came around, they started to fall apart because of conflicts with summer school and work. They only played one show through the whole 3 months of summer. At the beginning of the school year, they decided to resurrect "Five Caliber Nine", but under a new identity, "Gitch." (they almost called it "Two Eleanors"). And they also completely modified their sound by writing all new songs and changing old ones. Now, going nuts at shows and playing driving songs, Gitch is taking on another year and hopefully will never fall down in another slump. ever.
