PHILANTHROPY

The Inland Empire Alumnae Association is committed

to the Delta Gamma Philanthropy "Service for Sight."

Anchor Splash @ UC Riverside

A easy way to support your local collegiate chapter, the Delta Gamma Foundation and the local Service for Sight Organizations is through Anchor Splash™.  The collegiate chapter, Zeta Lambda, at UC Riverside holds this fundraiser annually in May.  Last year the chapter donated just over $2,000 to the Delta Gamma Foundation, Riverside Blindness Support Services and the LA Blind Children's Center.  This year can be even more successful!  Be on the lookout for more information regarding the 2005 event.

Pennies for Puppies

This year, we are going to try a new fundraiser called Pennies for Puppies.  If you're like Carrie McGuire, you have pennies laying all over your house and car.  Now you can put your pennies to good use!  Save any of your plastic or glass jars and bring them to any meeting you attend.   Carrie will have a label that you can attach to the jar.  Then, put your jar on your night stand, or a table at work and start collecting.

In May 2005, we will donate 100% of the proceeds to Guide Dogs of America.  Our contribution will help them provide guide dogs free of charge to blind individuals.  With the gift of a guide dog, these men and women are better able to pursue their goals, fulfill their dreams, and participate in their community.   Guide dogs not only provide the gift of increased independence, confidence, and mobility, but they also act as a trusted companion.

If you would like to donate, but don't want to collect pennies, simply send a check payable to the Inland Empire Alumnae Association with "Guide Dogs" written in the memo section and we'll add it to our donations.

Volunteering

Many of our members have expressed interest in finding opportunities to volunteer or provide community support.  We are currently corresponding with representatives from the Riverside Blindness Support Services and the L.A. Blind Children's Center.  They are very interested in having volunteers during various times of the year.  Throughout the year, we will keep you posted on opportunities as they are presented.
