Rank is awarded for time in position and performance by the CO after evaluation from the First Officer and the Ships Counselor and after ratification from his superior.
Cadet's, while they are assigned a rank, is that of the Academy class they are assigned.
Warrant officers hold their position by 'Warrant', and are considered to outrank all Enlisted grades. WOs are generally found heading sub-departments such as Transporter Systems or Marine Platoons.
A Chief Warrant Officer (of any rank) has the same priviledges as a Lieutenant Commander or Major. Chief Warrant Officers who wish to become commissioned officers may do so through their commanding officer, who would then promote them to Lieutenant.
Enlisted: (All Petty Officer Ranks are referred to as merely Petty Officer Name. Chief Petty and above are referred to as Chief, Senior Chief and Master Chief)
Upon reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer, the NCO can apply for Officer Training. At the next promotion the NCO is promoted to Warrant Officer, and may hold any Junior Officer position (i.e. Asst. Chief Engineer) or any specific Warrant Officer position. After that, they can be promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and may hold any Senior Officer position. |
