If They Only Knew
Jeremy Archer was a very good looking man, Gabby decided in the cab ride over to his hotel. The Taxi driver was shooting her nervous looks through the rearview mirror and she glared back in return.

She focused on Jeremy. True, he didn’t have Paul’s glossy black hair… but he did have soft blonde locks that were certainly just as nice to touch. And he might not have Paul’s hugely gorgeous hazel eyes, but Jeremy had watery blue… no wait… They were soulful and pretty and they weren’t just blue, they were bloody cerulean, or cobalt, or possibly even azure. That was it. He had bloody fabulous eyes that were azure like the summer sky.
Paul looked like a girl anyway. With bloody womanly lips. Jeremy didn’t. He had nice lips that she reckoned knew what to do just like Paul.

She realized her heart was going a million miles an hour. She felt all strung out like she’d been doing speed all day.

The Taxi pulled up to the hotel and she flew up the elevator to Jeremy’s room. He answered and looked as if he had been sleeping, his blonde hair mused and sticking up in all the wrong places.

“Gabby” he blinked. “What’re you doing here?”

“Hello” she said, a smile was frozen on her face. “Er… hello”

Jeremy cocked his head to the side “All right luv? You look a bit out of sorts” he opened the door wider for her to come in. She sat awkwardly on the bed and he sat next to her, attempting to smooth down his hair to make it presentable.

“Er… so what happened?”

“Um” Gabby fiddled with her hands. “I…my uh…I saw my…”

‘‘Hang on” Jeremy held up his hand “Did you have a run in with an ex, or something?”

“Yes” she nodded, eyes wide “Yes” Paul. Here ex. Close enough. “And his new girlfriend”

“Aw Gabs, that rough” he said kindly putting his arm around her. She winced as he called her ‘gabs’ she’d never really ever been called it by anyone but bloody lazy George.

“Yeah” she agreed leaning her head on his shoulder

“Tell you what” he said “I’ll get dressed and we’ll go for some dinner or something. Pop round the shops, you can spend a load of money and not think about it”

Gabby smiled. And about two hours later they were strolling up Bond Street with about eight carrier bags weighing them down from various expensive London shops that Gabby had never dared venture into until today. She wasn’t sure how much they’d spent but didn’t really care either. She wore a brand new Mary Quant dress, short and black, with long sleeves and a sophisticated boat neck. A large Pucci bag donned her arm and fantastic little black Gucci shoes, with little bows and low heels on her feet.

Jeremy was being lovely and funny and sweet to her. Telling her about Eric’s madcap plays that he was always in, or Catherine’s newest musical obsession. They were discussing Liverpool football club’s chances against Man United when Gabby spotted Chanel and nearly dragged him inside.

The sales girl giggled at Gabby as she rung up the new shoes, three pairs of sunglasses, four dresses a pair of earrings and a jacket for Gabby. “Having a bit of a blow out?” she asked as Gabby signed her a check and handed it over. The girl looked at Jeremy “You make a lovely couple”

Gabby and Jeremy giggled as they stumbled out of the shop. “You make a lovely couple” Gabby imitated, as he hailed a Taxi.

“Oh come on, it wouldn’t be so bad” the Taxi pulled up and he helped her pile the carrier bags in. “You an me”

“Right” she laughed and he helped her in.

The car pulled away “You live in Kensington, right?” he asked

Gabby bit her lip “Yeah… I don’t much want to go home yet though”

Jeremy grinned “Yeah? Why’s that?”

“I need a new place” she ignored the question. “It’s just to… cramped in there”

He sighed “So you want to go flat shopping now too? You better be bleeding loaded Gabrielle”

She giggled “I am” She admitted “Come on please, let’s leave this lot in the car” she gestured to the bags “And we’ll drive around for a bit if we see anything”

“Fine” he grinned and then bit his lip. “You know what…” but he trailed off

“What?” she enthused. “Go on?”

“ Well… it’s just I’ve got this friend, Lottie, right. She went to school with the lot of us and she’s moving to Paris to finish off at Art school and she’s trying to sell her flat”

Gabby’s mouth opened in surprise. Oh god. Could a house just fall into her lap? “Where is it?”

“Primrose Hill” he nodded “Quite nice, if not a bit big for just one person”

Gabby giggled “Let’s go see it then”

*

“Cor, bloody blimey” Gabby gasped “Flat my arse, this is a fucking mansion”

“It’s a house” Jeremy grinned “BY any means. Her parents are loaded and spoil her rotten. Of course, she’s scared for life, they sent her to a boarding school and went to live on some island off Greece”

“Aw, that’s too bad” but Gabby was grinning madly. Oh god, her very own house. She wanted it, ,she wanted it, oooh she wanted it.

“Erm… yeah I’ll take this”

Jeremy laughed ‘You haven’t even been inside yet”

“Oh right, that” Gabby nodded “Can we, then?”

Jeremy shrugged “she’s up in Cambridge at the moment. I should be able to have her send us a key or something,” He stepped back to look at the meter that was still running in the Taxi. Gabby waved it off. “Do we need like…a real estate person or something”

Gabby made a face “Can’t I just pay her cash”

“euh.. sure.” He laughed “Bleeding millionaire are you?”

“Indeed” she rolled her eyes “I inherited, it’s sickening really… I think I’ll just buy this house and then send half of it to some charity for dying children in India or sommat” she shrugged “I don’t really care about it.”

“That’s noble” Jeremy sighed “Would you like to come back to my place for some sex maybe?”

Gaby turned around, looking up at him in surprise. “Yeah” she agreed “All right, Cheers”
