Woodstock Fair Ambassador Competition
     Oxford Auditorium, Woodstock, ON
            Thursday August 15th 2002
This time out, Igloo was the entertainment between the speeches and the decisions! The invitation only event was held at the Woodstock Auditorium and was part of the Fair Ambassador Competition. The winner being the Fair Ambassador for a year, representing the Annual Woodstock Fair to the world!

The four contestants were Cory Stewart, Jennifer Douglas, Ashley Geerlinks and Rachel Hargreaves, and by 8:45 they had wrapped up thier speeches, and awaited the decision of the judges, on who would be the Fair Ambassador.

That was Igloo's cue, Kate Shippey, the 2000-01 Fair Ambassador, introduced Igloo on stage, and he went through a slightly condensed "Space Igloo" act for an older generation. The two youngest kids out of the 50 or so people there were Igloo's son Marc, and the sister of a contestant.

The sound man, Burt, cued up the 2001 theme, and Igloo entered! It was such a small room, Igloo didn't even need a mike!

However, Igloo got the laughs! He went a little slower for some of the sight gags, and was rewarded with more laffs! He added the "Space Swatter" gag, and also gave a better description of each item in his "Space Stuff" box.

The show went over quite well, and Igloo was thankful for the extra experience. Barb Hesterman ran a story on the event in the August 16th edition of the Sentinel-Review, but left the auditorium before Igloo went on, thus he got no press! Oh well, such is life.

Thanks to Marc for being there, and Kate Shippey for setting the gig up.

Oh, and best of luck to the 2002-03 Fair Ambassador, Rachel Hargreaves from Beachville! You did a great job winning!
