Here are a few volunteer ideas for anyone planning to join GTU this semester:

Ongoing Opportunities

*McLean County Humane Society has opportunities available for volunteers.
Contact Becca Rice at 452-1951.

*Project Oz, an organization that assists homeless teenagers is in need of
volunteers to go out into the community and hand out hygiene products to
homeless youth.  Contact Megan Klein at 827-0377.

*Crossroads Global Handcrafts is interested in volunteers assisting with
checking sales.  Contact 827-0121.

*The Boys and Girls Club needs volunteers interested in tutoring children in
their afternoon program.  Contact Laura Duvendac at 829-3034.

*The Center for Hope Food Pantry needs volunteers to assist with its food
pantry intake and maintenance.  Please contact Pat Turner at 452-8240.

*Mid Central Community Action needs volunteers for several areas.
--MCCA needs volunteers to assist with hotline coverage in an emergency
domestic violence program.  For more information about this opportunity,
please contact Janet at 828-8913.
--MCCA needs volunteers to provide childcare on Tuesday nights for clients
attending domestic violence support group.  Please contact Ricole at
828-8913 for more information.
--MCCA needs volunteers to staff the front desk of a long-term single unit
permanent housing facility.  Contact Pat at 829-2967 for more information
about this opportunity.

*Home Sweet Home Mission in Normal needs volunteers to help with sales.

*The Girl Scouts of Centrillio need volunteers to assist with troups.
Please contact Diane Boek at 662-5384 for information on how to get involved
with this program.

*Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bloomington Normal is in need of volunteers
for its after school program.  If you are interested please contact Teresa
Carroll at 828-1870.

*Heritage Manor is in need of volunteers to interact with its residents.  If
you are interested in this opportunity please contact Rita Anderson at
828-4361, ext. 334.

One-time Opportunities:


*The Children's Discovery Museum has several one-time opportunities for
volunteers to assist with no school days, field trips, Family Night
Extravaganza and several other programs.  For more information about dates,
you may email the SVC at svc@wpgate.shs.ilstu.edu or contact Heather Young
at the Children's Discovery Museum at 829-6222, ext. 205.

*Catholic Charities is sponsoring International Family Night on February 22.
They are in need of volunteers on February 21 for setup and on February 22
with the event. If interested please contact Megan Parks at 829-6307.
