Spring, 2006

Well, once again (and hopefully for the last time!!), we've made a move---this time back to Lubbock where our hearts have been since we left in 2000.  Sam is a Sales Executive for 4 of the best radio stations here---KLLL, Mix 100, Rock 101, and the Beat, 104.9.  We're absolutely sure we're right where we need to be, and we love it!  It's awesome being back with our church family!  I'm working for Coronado High School, where I worked before, and it's great!

After finishing a year at Howard College with his scholarship in Theater, Vance moved to Austin.  He's close to my Uncle Sid, and has great opportunities musically.  After working a year a Whole Foods, he is a prep chef, and that's where his life goals have turned.  He plans on attending college in the spring.  He has dreams of opening his own restaurant, and I believe he will someday!!  He's an excellent chef---he loves what he does!!

Keven (story below) is still back east, things are looking up for him at the time.  Keep praying for him!

This is a true story of how God put a brother and sister together for the first time.

In the year 1959, while living in Manhattan, NY, and working with the theater, my mom, Patricia Anne Conroy (later Monroe) had a baby boy.  Doing what she felt was right at the time, she placed the baby up for adoption.  First, though, she had her last opportunity to hold this baby,  and tell him she loved him,  before she was to give him up.  She never saw him again-not for another 39 years anyway!!  A man by the name of Kevin Daniel Clancy, from Lebanon, PA, called one night after a 21 year search had led him to her number.  Mom had emphysema for 13 years, and when she realized who he was, that this was for real, she became so excited that she couldn't breathe, much less talk!   I "wasn't suppose to be there" at the time, but was, so played "interpreter!"  It wasn't long before Kevin realized he was speaking to his SISTER!  Interestingly enough, mom had told me about having him--just 21 years earlier when we first moved to Texas from California.  Mom and I shared everything!  We were all each other had for so long.  While on the phone, Kevin shared with me that he was the Associate Director for Urban Ministries for the Lebanon Valley Youth for Christ , working full time with inner-city kids.  An ON-FIRE-FOR-CHRIST kind of guy with a heart of gold, his goal was  winning as many souls for Christ as possible.  At the time, my husband and I were both involved in working with youth in the church.  In our discussion, we found that it was not luck, or coincidence that he found us-it was definitely God's doing.  Our lives were so similar, in so many ways!  Before we hung up, Mom had another chance to speak to him and they shared their "I love you's."
The Meeting
A few days later, Kevin made the long drive to Texas to meet his mom and new sister!  By the time he arrived, Mom was in ICU at the hospital.  Due to the circumstances, the ICU nurses allowed Kevin to spend the whold day with Mom in ICU, in which Kevin sat on the edge of her bed, sharing his childhood stories, and holding Mom's hand.  Mom said to him "I always thought you would be mad at me for what I've done"-as he replied "Oh, no Mom!  I want to thank you for having me!!"  Just one week later, Mom passed away.  That was October 13, 1998.  The doctors had always told me they couldn't understand why she had lived  as long as she did--but I knew why--God had plans!!!  What closure this was for her!  She shared with me many, many times how she had always loved him, and always wondered where he was, and how he was doing.  Their last words to each other, via phone just 5 days before she died, were "I love you."
An Awesome Relationship
Kevin and I bonded instantly, and we're quite close. Telephone and email always helped  keep us up on each other's lives!  The Thanksgiving after mom died, I flew to PA as Kevin and I wanted to drive into NJ together and find a place to scatter mom's ashes.  On route, we stopped at Liberty State Park, in NJ (Mom grew up in NJ), overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan.  How perfect!!!  Mom's best years were in Manhattan.  Plus, the song I sang at her memorial service, "I Will Be Free" made being at "Liberty" State Park the right place!  I cherish the photos I took of the river with the World Trade Towers in the background-, and after 9/11 they're even more special.

The following Christmas, Kevin took a group of youth from PA to Hermosillo, Mexico on a Mission trip with TIME Ministries, based out of Dallas, TX.  Kevin and his crew stopped in Big Spring and picked me and my odlest son, Vance (12 at the time) up and took us with them!  What a blessed time it was!  To be able to minister by my brother's side!!!

The one thing in the world I had always been afraid of was losing my mother and having to go through the grieving process without siblings to lean on--  For God gave me the one gift that I've always wanted-family!!!

The most recent conversation we had, he told me that he knew God put me in his life for reasons, one of them to pray for him.  I KNOW God did the same for me. Since all this, he has had some family problems,  I continually pray for him..  However, he calls me sometimes, to let me know he's allright.. I finally heard from him in March of this year by email, and am awaiting more information.  It's been a very rough road - and I'm sure all and any prayers will be appreciated.  We all go through things in life that take members of the body to help us out of.   If you know him, or can pass along info to him, just let him know that he can and does make a difference, and that God has mightly plans for him!!! .  I miss him so much-it's like a part of me has been ripped out of me!   God is doing things in his life, and we will be together again.    We both have a calling to be in a ministry together, perhaps related to music, and/or youth.  There are powers we can not see with our eyes that are doing their best to keep us from doing God's work  They will not prevail!!!God's will will be done!!
PRAISE HIM!!
