| Dexamethsone induced diabetes & hepatic steatosis, a model to screen insulin sensitisers in albino rats, has been developed for the first time by Dr Nagendra Nayak, Professor of Pharmacology, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, Mangalore, India. Screening work has been done using glibenclamide, insulin, metformin, rosiglitazone. Water extracts of Eugenia Jambolana seed, Gymnema sylvestre leaf, Enicostemma littorale & cinnamon have shown positive reults & Momordica charantia, casearia esculenta, giloy satva have shown negative reults for insulin sensitising activity.
