The primary goal of IndyLit is the promotion of independent literature and ideas.  We believe that without alternative ideas available, culture grows stagnant and complacent.

*  To coordinate with independent and large bookstores to include an "indylit" section in their stores

*  To recognize the work of authors, poets, and thinkers outside the mainstream publishing industry

*  To acquire for the best independent authors acceptance into the mainstream (or, at least, provide them with a larger audience)

*  To educate the public on the value of independent literature

*  To work as a resource for independent authors and publishers

*  To provide on-going support at book-fairs, literary festivals, etc.

*  To coordinate with media sources for the promotion of independent literature
