REVIEW :: Keep an eye on "Inelement" :: August 2001 (from 'The Sligo Champion')
INELEMENT are a young up-and-coming band from Sligo, and judging by their performance at the Ballina Blitz Showcase, it shouldn't be long before they truly establish themselves on the scene.They play a set that is vigorous, energetic and remarkably focused.
Kicking off with a muscular version of "Eye of the Tiger" and a blistering rendition of Green Days' "When I come Around", the set consists of a seamless mixture of crowd-pleasing covers and exciting original material.
All three musicians - Raymond Hogge (Bass guitar and vocals); Sean Mc Carthy (Guitar and Vocals) and Paul Wehrly (Drums) - demonstrate outstanding ability with their respective instruments, pulling off a version of Muse's "Plug in Baby" with paticular notable dexterity.Songs like the Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge" also revealed their considerable vocal talents.
Five original songs are included in Inelements' set.The vitality and conviction of "Welcome to the World" is particularly well-recieved, whilst the rest - the soulful "Away",the dynamic "Ascending", the more mellow "Down in the Dumps" and the excellent "Stars" (underpinned by a melodic guitar riff) - provide abundent evidence of Inelements' talent.The set is skillfully rounded off by a euphoric, rip roaring, rendition of Blink 182's "All the Small Things".
At this point, many of the assembled spectators leave their seats to engage in an impromptu dance in front of the band, causing some wide smiles on the stage.
It's that kind of night.
REVIEW :: Debut Gig :: "26-November-2000"
Little did those attending the disco in the Loftus Hall, last Saturday, know what led in store for them as they danced the night away.Local lads who were running the disco, midway through the night, cut the disco music and appeared on stage with their own instruments and thrilled the audience with wonderful renditions of present hit music and song.
It was the three lads, (known as "inelement"), first night onstage and rumour has it that the phone is hopping with requests to have them back again in the Loftus Hall before Christmas.
The lads are: Sean Mc Carthy, Ballymote, guitar, Raymond Hogge, Ballymote, bass & Paul Wehrly, Sligo Dums.Well done lads, keep up the good work.
ARTICLE :: Sligo's risings sons on a roll [] by Robert Cullen, The Sligo Weekender , 10-sept-2002 []
South Sligo group Inelement confirmed their status as the fastest rising band in the North West with an appearence at a showcase at Dublin's Issac Butts Bar on September 8th.The group, Raymond Hogge, Sean Mc Carthy & Jason O'Carrol, were the only band not from Dublin selected for the showcase, a testament to the waves they've been making in the live music scene in Ireland over the last twelve months.
They have been cramming in as many gigs as possible in 2002, playing in their native county and impressing many in the Ballina Band Showcase too.
Inelement started out , as all good bands do, performing covers, however this has allowed the band to develop their own original material and now all their live performances have a healthy sprinkling of fresh songs.
"Down in the dumps","Ascending" and "Stars" are a regular part of their set and surely deserve a bigger platform than what the North West can offer at present,
