The Family Reunion
On Saturday 3rd April 1999 the Wallace family held their reunion at Tewantin on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. It was held at a resort built on the grounds of Wallace House. There were about 80 descendants of John Thornhill James-Wallace and Henry James Wallace who came to Australia from Ireland in the 1850's. It was a wet day but that didn't dampen anyone's spirits. People came from Mackay, Esk, Brisbane, Stradbroke Island and even Canada. It was a very enjoyable day, getting reacquainted with old friends and meeting new ones. Many had met each other for the first time at the first gathering at Easter in 1985 in Mackay.

There were photos and paintings and many items of interest relating to the family, both old and more recent, on display. The updated family tree was very popular as people saw where they fitted into the family.

It is a way for us to get to know each other. Especially for those who couldn't make it to the reunion. Some of those stories have been included in this web site.

I am beginning to compile the family tree on this web site also.
