The Sunshine Coast Daily reported on Saturday, March 27, 1999 that 'Blaze destroys Noosa's landmark Wallace House'. Yes the house built by Arthur Wallace in the 1930's was extensively damaged by fire a week before the family reunion. A tour of the house had been arranged but that became an external viewing through wire fences. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
There were no suspicious circumstances. It just seems like fate had caught up to the old house. Apparently, it could have burnt down when Arthur died. He had been smoking in bed and the place caught fire. Even though he was very old, it was the fire that killed him. But somehow it didn't claim the house. The house has since been restored. |
