SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH
I HATE MORONS. I read an article in the Des Moines Register of some guy, who is a journalist complaining about obscene bumper stickers. You idiot, you have the right to complain about them because of the First Ammendment, same as Skinny Puppy could write Nature's Revenge and Shore Lined Poison, which at the time must have pissed off alot of "neo-conservatives" (the term contradicts itself, but hey, they made it up not me) but you don't see people flipping out about it because that was before The Patriot Act and it was performed by 3 white guys from Canada, it is okay for SP to have songs about animal rights, extreme left wing liberal politics, depression and their addiction struggles with heroin and yet alot of tame rap groups get in trouble over singing about pot. Here you are whining about the F word on a sticker. Idiot.
There are a few different exceptions I have noticed to our First Ammendment in America, one is that it's ok to write songs about womanizing, but you can't be blatantly racist in your lyrics. Exception 2 is that you will be allowed to use expletives and put down the caucasians and sing about killing white people with or without reason, but if you are a caucasian you cannot say anything against members of other races without receiving flak from every non-white supremist in the world. The third exception is that you can be extremely politically motivated against the "moral majority" (which by the way is one of the smallest political minorities in the US) so long as you are not a country musician if you are then you kill your career. There are other exceptions that I have seen, but what kills me is the contradictions with these exceptions, it's ok for any "non-white" race to bash "whites" but for a "white" person to bash "non-whites" even if it has nothing to do with race is labeled a racist. It's fine for you to talk about other people being sex objects and drugs, but you can't make country music with lyrics degrading the current American leader. Now some moron can bitch about a bumper sticker that says "FUCK WAR"- well, it's not actually the words that are bad, it's the meaning when you think about it, words only have the value that you attach to them, so who has the right to deem what is offensive? And the term Fuck War in a literal sense would just be a more brazen spin on "make love not war" which is a perfectly acceptable statement in this era.
Noone has the right to try to tell me what I should find offensive, I do not find "cuss" words, displays of sex on tv, sll the stuff the FCC seems to worry about as being "offensive" except for one thing that I feel is a pretty universal thing, and that's pedophilia, I personally think pedophilia is disgusting, perverse and not something I want to see on tv, as long as someone gives me an option to not see depictions of that on tv I will be ok. If you're offended by what you see, then turn the channel, go to a different website, turn the magazine page, quit whining and trying to censor the world. Am I pissed off? Yes I am, I'm an American citizen. If you live in this country and are not angry with the way things are going then you're either lying to yourself or too damn stupid to think for yourself. If you're too stupid to be upset with how the USA is treating you if you are a US citizen then I'm not worried about offending you with what I say because well, you're an idiot. Even the most adamant supporters of George W Bush cannot be happy with the way things are going, so quit lying to yourself and speak your mind. I use my music and the power of the internet to put my political and personal beliefs out there, do I throw it in your face? of course, and why not? the mainstream media feeds us crap like the O.J. Simpson murder trial(ok, no need to comment on this one), reenactments of "Wacko Jacko" being "tried" for his crimes(good job dropping the ball on that one beings that virtually everyone in America you ask will tell you he's a sick pedophile that needs to be locked away), this "information" about the Benet-Ramsey murder (they found a goddamn practice ransom note in their home for crying out loud-kidnappers taking that with them? good one.) and garbage to try to keep us subdued like the Grammy's and other worthless award ceremonies, just feed us po(o)p culture entertainment to keep us not only stuck as consumers but as addicts to the glitz and glamour of millionaire lifestyle. Don't even get me started on reality tv...
The worst part? we allow them to sell it to us. Obviously I've been bought into the system because I am aware of these events, and if you know about them before reading about it here, they've sucked you into the system too, but that doesn't mean it's too late to give up our dignity, we can all take our individual stances to voice our opinions and find others that agree to have intelligent conversations about our views with. All the people out there talking about individualism and freedom on tv, the goth kids down the road proclaiming their individualism, the protestors on tv all have one thing in common-they are trying to be seperate from the corporate machine that runs our lives, and a sad similarity that goes with it, they are all playing into the system by picketing on tv, feeding the media more pointless drivel to "entertain/inform" us with, spending money on corporations and store chains to promote their "free thinking" attitude, spending money on the new "outcast to society" band that suprisingly(not really) just went platinum, it's all a joke. Individualism and freedom from the take money, "outsider to the norm" clothing, to know how to play a musical instrument or write poetry, just using your brain for what it was made for- making decisions and what your body was made for, taking action.
