In honor of Hunny Bunny, ? -2005
My mom intially was going to FOSTER her for Heartland Animal Rescue, since she had experience with our previous rabbit, Bette. Hunny was named 'Nasty Bunny' at the rescue, due to her attitude and the fact that she had bitten everyone there. Our old rabbit had the same 'disposition'. Hunny just had some issues. She did not like to be picked up and she was a bit territorial when it came to her food and cage. Although her cage was just for 'pottying'. So we ended up adopting her and she was at my house until her final days. She had her own room and even got along with my cat. I thought she might try to kill him, but she actually enjoyed his company (although she didn't like to admit it). Sam licked her head and she would lay down and enjoy it. It was quite a scene. So Hunny had a 'forever home'. I just had to keep finding new people to take care of her while I was out of town, because she didn't make friends too easily. She had a couple bouts of gastric stasis (if you have a rabbit please read about his deadly condition!) and after the second bout she wasn't the same. I believe she developed some kidney problems and started to lose control of herself. I knew it was soon when she wouldn't eat, and I found that she had passed later that day. I cried but I know she had a good life, despite her not being the nicest! I have adopted another rabbit, Cosmo, take a look at his page! |
