Third Trimester

Weeks 33-36
This is the week my first born turns 3!  I can't believe that we have been parents that long!  We are driving back home for Jacob's party at Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday, and his cousin's party on Sunday!  It should be a fun weekend!
I am starting to research different health care professionals after I attended a lecture from a Midwife.  I think that I may look into the option of a hospital delivery (b/c of my need for antibiotics during birth), with a Midwife!
The pg is going well.  I have regular contractions, but nothing very strong, and I feel as big as a house!  I am starting to have trouble sleeping, and am starting to get leg cramps in the middle of the night. OUCH!!  I can feel that Gabriel is running out of room, b/c his movements are more like nudges instead of kicks.  I can't wait to hold him in my arms.:)

Drs Appt. Update: (May 21st)
Well, not too much excitement at this appt.  Everything looks great, and baby is getting nice and settled into my pelvis, ready for delivery!
The doctor did say that the baby feels (and measures) quite large.  Yikes!  I hope he's not as big as Jacob was!  Next appt. in 2 weeks!
BP:  125/75
Weight:  148 lbs
Heart Rate:  145 BPM
Fundal Height:  34 cm

What's Happening?  Baby now weighs over 4 1/2 lbs. and is about 15.5" long!!  He has established sleep/wake patterns.
Week 33:  May 21-27
Josh (14m) and I (33w) at Jacob's Birthday Party!
Josh (14m) and I at Jake's 3rd Birthday party!
Week 34:  May 28-June 3
Busy, busy!
Jake's B-day party was great!  We all had a fantastic time, but the drive home felt VERY long.  I am getting too big to be in the car for hours.  The boys and I also tagged along with Oliver on a business trip.  It was so much fun, and I had a great time eating out!  LOL!!  I am going to stick around home for the remainder of the pg, I don't want to risk it.
I am really starting to feel big, I am getting to the point that I am almost too big for most of my maternity clothes!  YIKES!  Baby is still causing a lot of pressure, and he feels like he is very deep in my pelvis.  Won't be long now!
I am starting to get nervous about labour and delivery!  It turns out that the hospital only has an "on call" anesthetist, and it is not uncommon to wait a long time for them to arrive with pain relief, (unless they are in surgery, then you are SOL!).  I better practice my breathing!  LOL!
I am also very excited about my appt. with a midwife next week.  The more I look into them, the more I could see myself delivering with one (I may really need the support if there is no epidural available to me).
Very exciting news!!!!!!  We have started the nursery!!!!!  I am so happy that we have finally found a moment to get things ready for little Gabriel!  We have finished the first and second coats of paint, and we are going to start the faux finish in the next day or two!  It's a start.:)

What's Happening?  Baby weighs about 4lbs, 11oz and is more than 16" long!  He is running out of room!
34w
34 weeks, and getting as big as a house!
We finished the nursery!  Everything is washed and packed and ready to go!  I finally feel ready, although I am really starting to get nervous.  I can't believe that there is a good chance that I won't be getting an epidural!  The more people that I talk to here, the more I realize that it is not an easy thing to get, and there is a very long wait after you request one (up to 6-7 hours!!).  I am such a chicken when it comes to pain.:)  This birth story should be very interesting!
I met with my Midwife this week.  She seems wonderful, I feel very lucky to get in at such a late date.  I can't wait until my next appt. on the 13th.
I have been having a lot of pelvic pressure lately and my contractions are getting more and more regular!  I have also started to lose my plug!  I really don't think that it will be much longer before the baby arrives!

Drs. Appt. Update:  (June 4th)
Not very eventful, as usual.  Everything looks great!
BP:  135/75
Weight:  152 lbs
Heart Rate:  150 BPM
Fundal Height:  36cm

Midwife Appt.  (June 5th)
Just an initial Q&A session.  She answered all of my questions, and I feel very confident that this is the provider that I want delivering Gabriel!  I have my full physical next week (June 13), and start weekly appts. with her from then on!  I can't believe how close I am!

What's Happening?  Baby now weighs 5 lbs and is aprox 16.5" long.  Mother's hemoglobin is returning to normal, as baby is done taking most of the iron he needs from his Mother.
Week 35:  June 4-10
Gabriel's Nursery!
Gabriel's Nursery!
Week 36: June 11-17
36 weeks!  Where has the time gone?  I spend most of my free time (which is limited:)) switching between feelings of anxiety about the birth, and elation that I am finally going to be holding Gabriel in my arms.  I am getting very impatient as I get closer to my due date.  I delivered Jacob and Joshua at 38 weeks, but I keep reminding myself that I could just as easily go to term with this little guy.  It is so hard to wait, although I do have so much to do before he arrives.  I have all of Gabriel's stuff ready and waiting, but I haven't packed for myself yet!
This is going to be a busy weekend.  My SIL and her family are coming for a visit!  It will be a nice distraction, and my boys love to play with her 3 boys!
I have been reflecting lately on how suprising it was to find out that we were pregnant again, and how worried I was.  After a long nine months, I am really looking forward to meeting my 3rd little man.  I just love being Mommy to 2 little boys, and I am sure that a third is going to be busy, but so much fun.  I feel so lucky.:)

Midwife Appt. Update (June 13th)
What a wonderful appt!  Oliver and the boys came with me to meet my Midwife.  She is so great, and just sat and talked with us for over two hours!  I am feeling a lot more confident about labour and delivery after talking with her.  I am so excited, my next appt (June 21) is a home visit, so she can see where we live and get comfortable with our house.  She will be coming over when I am in labour, and will also visit many times after the birth.  The whole philosophy of Midwife care really seems to blend with my idea of what Mother and Baby care should be!  I am so glad to be able to experience it this time around!
BP:  90/70
Weight:  152 lbs
Heart Rate: 130 BPM
Fundal Height:  34cm (looks like Gabriel is getting ready!)
Tests:  CBC done, Strep B will be done at my appt next week.

What's Happening?  Baby weighs aprox 6 lbs now, and is about 17.5" long.  At the end of this week baby is considered FULL TERM!
