| 4. A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
I still watch this every Christmas. The message, music and characters are all great. Snoopy is the best, as usual (and not just at figure skating). I love it when he snatches away Linus' blanket and drags the kid with him. And when he boos at Charlie and then slinks away, embarassed. I also love Lucy's "five good reasons" and Linus' recitation of the biblical passage. And the whole thing ends well with the kids singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing". This is one of the few holiday movies/tv specials that unabashedley includes the true "reason for the season"; I absolutely love that. (December 25 is probably historically inaccurate, but who cares? It's as good a day as any to celebrate the birth of Christ.) |

| boy at the end, but Kevin's new friend - the "creepy" old man next door - comes to the rescue. Eventually, Kevin begins to miss his family and even tells "Santa" that all he wants for Christmas is to have his family back. All in all, this is a funny, cute movie with a sweet ending. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) isn't a bad holiday movie. (But I haven't seen 3 or 4, nor do I care to.) |
