J.L. Hart
A Story About Me
Page 1
This is the story of me, J.L. Hart.  I am the only daughter of Jonathan and Jennifer Hart.  I have one brother J.J. and a dog named Freeway the 4th.  I am 5 years old and a big sister to J.J., he’s 3.    But you know what’s kinda cool?  We have the same birthday, but different years.  Our birthdays just happen to be on Valentines Day, February 14th.  I don’t know if our parents planned that, or if that’s just how it happened.  You know, being Hart’s and being born on Valentines Day, but that’s how it worked out.  I think its pretty neat, cause I love my little brother.  Mommy says that since I am 5 now I get to go to kindergarten this year.  I wish I didn’t have to go to school at all, but my mommy says that I have to.  She is the boss of the family, so I’d better do as she says otherwise I’d get in big trouble.  And I don’t want to get into trouble from her.  As I said this is the story about me, so I guess I’d better start at the beginning, before there even was a me, just when there was a Jonathan and a Jennifer Hart.

My mommy wasn’t always Jennifer Hart, she used to be Jennifer Edwards.  She also used to be a journalist for a paper in New York and was sent over to ENGLAND of all places to do a story on my daddy.  Don’t ask me why she had to go to England to do the story, she could have done the story here in the United States, but then if she didn’t follow him, then she never would have met him, and they never would have had me, so I guess it all works out in the end.  Mommy says that after she saw him, she didn’t want anything to do with him, but daddy was very persistent and only after 2 days he asked her to marry him. I’ll bet Papa about blew his stack over that one.  Papa is my grandfather, Stephen Edwards.  He lives in Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC on a big old horse ranch.  I have a horsey there named Sam, and I can ride him whenever I get to go up there, I love going up there.  There is this pond with the best climbing tree with its branches big enough to spread out over part of the lake.  Whenever I get to a point that I have to do some serious thinking about something, I go up there to think.  My papa says that I’m just like my mother.  She used to do the same thing.  Anyhow, my mommy and daddy got married at this really pretty church.  I got to see it one time, it has these really pretty statues outside of it and really neat stained glass windows on the inside.  I’m glad mommy and daddy got married there.  After they got married, mommy moved to Los Angeles to be with my daddy, and they got to go a lot of places, we still do.  My mommy says that when I’m older she’ll tell me about some of the stuff that she and daddy did when they went to these places, but for right now she says that even though they got into some danger, it was all ok, because she knew that daddy was special and would do anything to rescue her.  He still does.  My daddy loves my mommy very much.  I can tell.  I don’t know how I can tell, but I can tell.

My daddy is very different from my mommy.  While my mommy grew up with her mommy and daddy, my daddy didn’t have anyone until he was a teenager.  According to him its when a little boy or a little girl don’t have any parents, they are called an orphan.  And that’s what he was, an orphan.  But that was before he met Max.  Max was daddy’s bestest friend in the whole wide world.  I hope some day I will find a bestest friend, but that probably won’t be for a while.  Anyhow, Uncle Max used to see my daddy every day since according to daddy, Uncle Max visited the orphanage to see Maxine, the cook at the school.  Daddy also says that Uncle Max saw something special in my daddy and decided to take him under his wing.  He taught daddy all kinds of neat stuff, which daddy is in turn teaching to me.  Did you know that I almost always beat my mommy and my daddy at gin?  My mommy likes playing cards just as much as my daddy does, so she doesn’t think its so bad that I know how to play cards, because she says that if I didn’t learn it from them who knows who would teach me.  I was telling you about my Uncle Max, I never met the man, but I have seen pictures of me being held by him, so I know that he knew me.  Uncle Max died when I was 2 years old, he missed meeting JJ though.  I think he would haved loved him. Daddy said that he had a heart attack because he went down to the racetrack and bet some money on a big horse race and won a lot of money. According to daddy that’s the way Maxie would have wanted to go.  So now you know about my Uncle Max.  OH YEAH, Daddy owns this really big corporation called what else Hart Industries.  There are a lot of little companies that make up daddy’s big company and he owns all of it.  Pretty good for a guy that was an orphan don’t you think so?

Well you know about my mommy and my daddy and my Uncle Max, so I guess I had better tell you about J.J.  J.J. stands for Jonathan Junior.  His full name is Jonathan Maxwell Edwards Hart Junior, but we just call him JJ its easier, unless mommy gets mad at him then she uses his full name.  You can tell she’s really mad at you when she uses our full names.  J.J. just turned 3 and he is a boy.  He looks like my daddy, with dark hair, but instead of getting my daddy’s eyes, which I got, he got mommy’s eyes.  He likes to go outside with me and play with Four.  That is what we call our doggie.  His real name is Freeway the 4th, but that’s a mouthful to say so we just call him Four.  JJ likes to play with his trucks and sit with mommy in her lap and listen to music.  I like some music that mommy likes, but not all of it.  I like jazz music like my daddy.  See I told you I was a daddy’s girl.  Speaking of being a daddy’s girl, he’s calling for me now, so I’d better go.  I will come back and talk to you some more later ok?
