Gustav Adolph Weisert was born to the unmarried Caroline Weisert, and baptized at St. Martin's Parish, on March 31, 1857, in Halberstadt, Germany. Records were not found giving the fathers name, only an X, indicating the name was not given.
Gustav arrived in America on or about November 25, 1879 from Germany. On March 27, 1887, he applied for citizenship in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, and became a United States Citizen on October 20, 1891, in the United States District Court, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio on October 20, 1891.
Rev. J. B. Neustich married Gustav and Maria at St. Mary's Church, Cleveland, Ohio. It is noted on the marriage record that one of the parties was not Catholic.
Gustav died at Cleveland State hospital from a Cerebral Hemorrhage.

Maria Potra Weisert was listed on the 1910, Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio census. On Gustav Weisert's death certificate, he was listed as a widower in April 1918. In 1914 Gustav was living with his son John, Maria may have died prior to 1914.
