Sumthingaboutmaori won the Trotters Interdominion final at Moonee Valley Victoria and became the first Australian horse to win the final since True Roman in 1988. |
With just over 1000m to go, Sumthingaboutmaori was sent forward by regular driver and master reinsman, Gavin Lang for Trainer, Bryan Healy. Sumthingaboutmaori gained the death seat, with the talented Martina H gaining a run and tackling down the outside. Despite appearing to have her measure for a stride or two, the couragous Sumthingaboutmaori dug deep and fought on to win from Martina H. A fantastic win for an awesome horse! |
An Update: Lively Melody is doing well after suffering a bad colic attack and having to undergo major surgery when grave fears were held for his life. So well in fact that connections couldn't be happier with the progress he has made - so much so that he has been nominated for the 2005 Interdominion series. Sensational New Zealand horse, Young Rufus suffered much the same before he was to contest the 2003 Interdominion. And he has come back with seemingly no ill effects - racing in the best form of his career. |

In what is believed to be a World Record for any betting meeting, women took the driving honours to win all of the 8 races at an Arrarat meeting held on the 25th January. Kerryn Gath equalled her record to win 6 races, with D'Arne Bellman and Brooke Hanson winning the other two races. Kerryn is clearly leading again this season in the Australian driver's premiership and has been the leading reinsperson for the past 4 seasons. |
