Cute Boy God: The first time Joan meets God he appears as a young guy about her own age on the bus. He follows her to school and tries to convince her he really is God. He tells Joan that he "won't always look like this" and that his appearance will change each time they meet. He suggests she get a job at a local bookstore.

Cafeteria Worker God: The second time Joan meets God is in the lunch line at her school cafeteria. God appears as a sassy black middle-aged lunch lady. She asks Joan why she didn't get the job at the bookstore. Joan realises who she's really talking to and looks around, embarrassed. She explains that if Joan had simply done what she was asked to then then this encounter would not be necessary. She tells Joan to move along as she's holding up the line.
