MIDSOMER MURDERS

THE BLOOD POINT - SYNOPSIS

History in Badger's Drift becomes the future when Jane Melts, matriarch of the Melts family, catches Caitlin Ashmoore breaking into Charhood Hall, home of the deeply rooted Melts family. The Ashmoores and the Melts have never been friendly families causing great distress for the villagers. Jane reports the break-in to Barnaby and Scott and it is not long before they start digging for clues in Moore House.

The Ashmoore family are extremely angry of the accusations and deny all charges. The next morning, Alexander Melts (Jane's son) and Caitlin Ashmoore are found dead in the graveyard by the priest, Dave Errol and his bullying wife, Margarita. It appears that they were both stabbed and their heads banged to their ancestors graves.

Barnaby and Scott have a hard time trying to find out suspects when the families only point the finger at each other. Then they discover that the Melts were in serious debt and had to sell the family home to keep their riches going. The estate agent, Meg Moon, reveals that Alexander was most worried and had come to talk about selling the house without his family knowing.

Meanwhile, Joyce has decided on starting a market stall in the village with Margarita. Margarita tells Joyce, without knowing she is married to the Chief Inspector, that she'd seen Caitlin and Alexander having it away in the graveyard a few nights before!

The following night, James Melts and Gaynor Ashmoore receive threatening letters. Leading women Jane and Rhiannon both agree to keep the rivalry in peace until the murders are solved. Husbands Arthur and Howard are less forthcoming.

In the graveyard the next morning, Gaynor Ashmoore is discovered murdered on the grave of Edith Ashmoore, obviously a long gone relative. Bullard said that her head was bashed against the church wall and that she was dragged. James Melts is also shot out during his sleep but manages to avoid the killer.

The body count carries on piling up in the tiny hamlet and it seems both families are being targeted. Barnaby and Scott realise that the answer lies in the long-running family and they discover the two families may be part of the same race, But how does this explain the motives? If Barnaby wants to find the killer then he better act fast before Joyce's life is put under threat...
