Write I wrote your name on the sand But the waves took it. I wrote your name on the clouds But the wind took it. I wrote your name on the wall But the ink faded and took it. Then nevermind and I'll write your name on my heart Because it will be there forever. |

Chuukese.... |
The reason I wrote the poem Tugi' (write) was, one day in December of 2001, as I was talking over the phone to a girl I really admired, I begin absentmindedly to write her name down on a piece of paper. As our conversation progressed I continued to write her name different ways in different styles, completely covering the paper. Then as our conversation ended it slipped my mind that I was writing her name and left the piece of paper in plain view. Later that evening one of my sisters begin to inquire about the name on the sheet of paper. I became timid, shy, overcome with excitement as I heard her name....I first wrote the poem in Chamorro then I translated it into English, then Chuukese...I hope you enjoy this poem it is one of my favorites. |
Each poem has a story...Most of them I wrote in Chamorro, for obvious reasons, I'm Chamorro. I wrote them in Chuukese because the girl I admired was from Chuuk and I had to translate the poems into English so somone could translate it into Chuukese. I hope you enjoy the poems as much as I enjoyed writing!! |

A Long time We have been friends for a long time What am I to do if that is what you are looking for? You asked me if I can just be your friend. But I don't want to just be a friend. Because I already have many friends and acquaintances. Because I really like you, you are my favorite! Girl tell me if you do not like me! But you asked to please be friends But I don't want to be friends. |

Chuukese.... |
The poem Apman I wrote in Februray of 2005 around Valentine's day. The girl I really admired for a very long time once told me that we need to just remain friends. She said that it is best if we are just friends....so here it is...entitled Apman. |
