| Jesus had just entered Jerusalem and many fathers and mothers rushed to Him with there children . They were eager to have them meet Him early so they would grow up loving Him . But the disciples, thinking that the Saviour was interested only in teaching the adults and healing the sick, told the parents to take their children away.Jesus rebuked the disciples, called the parents back and said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of God..Then Jesus took the little children in his arms and blessed them. The disciples learned that children belong to Jesus, and that he loves them. The way to receive eternal life is by simple, childlike belief in Christ. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and children are his sheep.The disciples were His sheep.Anyone who follows Christ today is His sheep. Jesus said, ""My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man take them out of my hand". |
