Firecrafter Purpose

In direct pursuit of the principles and ideals of scouting for boys, Firecrafter was created for and dedicated to service to all phases of that movement.  Firecrafter and each individual Firecrafter shall be directed toward the observance of the following creed; * We believe that leadership ought to be fostered and its high trusts and responsibilities cultivated. * We believe that a scout becomes a better scout when he exhibits unselfish friendship to others. * We believe that Firecrafter'sservice to scouting aids both the Firecrafter and every scout in building better character and citizenship

Firecrafter Program

The firecrafter program consists of five ranks and one honor. Two of those ranks are cub Scout ranks. They are Webelos camper and firelight. The requirements for these ranks are to attend a Webelos camp and demonstrate certain scout skills. The next three ranks are for boy scouts they are Camper, Woodsman, and Firecrafter. Firecrafter is considered the hardest. To become a Firecrafter you must complete several requirements. First you must understand the high standards of Firecrafter and must know the history of Firecrafter. They must build a fire-by-friction set out of natural material and start a fire that will last at least 15 minutes. They must spend the night away from regular camp and build a shelter. They must tie splices and complete certain swimming requirements. They must also conduct a campfire program and show leadership in doing so. They will also have to complete three hours of service. The last requirement is the unknown test which is completed at a separate ritual. The ranks of Firecrafter can only be earned at a week long scout camp. There is one honor in the Proram as well Called Minisino, meaning "Tried and Proven."  The Candidate is called out and put on trial for two camping weeks.  The Requirements are known only to Minisinos.
