The room was silent. Annie stifled a sob. "I didn't think it was funny, but I guess your right." she turned and ran out of the house into the wind. Once again, she kept on running. Her hair came down, but she didn't notice. This time, she was actually crying, letting out all the pain she had been put through and had held inside. She cried loudly, tears streaming down her face, and didn't care who saw her. her shoe fell off, and she kept on going, when she came to the end of the road, she hopped the fence to the lake. She found a rowboat, and rowed back out to her island, realizing that she would never get Nick to think of her as anything for than a friend. ***back at Brian's apartment*** Everyone was silent. Melissa started to run after Annie, but Brian stopped her "She needs to be alone, now" he whispered. Everyone stared at Nick. He looked around, wondering what was wrong. "What? Someone had to tell her to take of the mask and be herself. "he explained. Melissa got upset then. "Maybe she figured that you would love her if she put on a mask and looked like all those other girls you go after." she whispered, feeling horrible for her friend. Nick was still clueless. "Why would she want to be like them?" then it started to hit him. "She loves you, Nick, we've all noticed, I wonder why your thick head hasn't seen it yet! That girl is head over heals in love! "stated AJ. "I'm so stupid! why didn't I see it?" he yelled, realizing the truth. "You didn't see it because you were to busy trying to get Brittany in your pants!" reminded AJ. Nick stood up. "Well, I gotta find her!" "What are you gonna do?" asked Melissa. "I don't know, all I know is that up until now, I haven't felt like this. Annie means a lot to me, more than I even knew, and I have to tell her before we leave tomorrow!" with this, he ran out the door to find her. 'Where could she be?' he thought out loud. He looked around, and sat down, putting his head in his hands. Now that he thought about it, all he talked to Annie about lately had been Brittany, no wonder she acted jealous. If he had only known. He thought about all the girls he had wanted in the past. Funny, she was different, and thats why he liked her, and shut her out at the same time. He wasn't good at letting people get to his heart, because he was used to being hurt. She was the one person who had liked her for the right reasons, and also the one person who understood him. the more he thought about it, the more he longed for her. He got up, and started running. Suddenly, he saw something glistening near a fence. He went over to it and picked it up. It was the heeled shoe Annie had been wearing earlier. It now came to him where she must be.
