Going Home Chapter 1 "Come on! You have to come with me. Kevin sent an extra ticket for you. Please?! Where else are you gonna go? Please Kim?" I pleaded. "Erika, I don't know. I mean it's 5 weeks. I'll wear out my welcome. I'm just gonna go stay with my great aunt." Kimberly responded. I grabbed her hand. "Stop it! You will not wear out your welcome! Would Kevin have bought you an extra ticket if he hadn't have wanted you to come? Please? I'll introduce you to Nick, Kim." "Oh shut up! You just had to do that, didn't you? The one weak spot you always pick on me for." She thought for a second. "Fine! I'll go! Damn me for being in love with a man I've never met." "Well now that you're coming to Orlando with me, you can be in love with a man you've met. I think Nicky will like you!" I said smiling. OK, I think I'll break for a moment and explain exactly what's going on here. Hi! My name is Erika and I'm a 19-year-old college freshman. By some odd stoke of luck, I am also Kevin Richardson's sister. Yes, the same Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys. This would also make me Brian Littrell's cousin and best friend's with Nick Carter. Sounds too good to be true, right. Hey, it's my life. Anyway, you have also just met my college roommate, Kim. We didn't actually meet until the day we moved in, but have become best friends in simply a semester. Her parents were killed in a car accident a few weeks before school started. That's why I was trying to convince her to come to Orlando with me for Winter Break. Not only was it Christmas, but Kevin was getting married! Her name is Katie and I met her for the first time at Thanksgiving. She seemed really nice, perfect for Kevin. Anyway, back to the present. Kim and I were arriving in Orlando. "Butthead better have remembered to pick us up," I said, "and he better not be late." Just as soon as the words were out of my mouth, I spotted my older brother standing at the end of the gangway. "Kevy!" I yelled and threw myself into my brother's arms. "Hey Sweetie! How've ya been?" he asked kissing my forehead. "Fine. AUGH! You brought Brian and Nick with you!" I said as I saw the two walk up behind Kevin. "Hey B! Hey Nicky!" I shouted and ran to them. I hugged Brian and then Nick. Suddenly I remembered that Kim was standing all by herself. "Kev, you remember Kim." "Yeah!" he replied, and hugged the younger woman. "I'm glad you decided to come." "Thanks for inviting me. You really didn't have too, but thanks again." I then pulled her over and said, "Kim, this is my cousin Brain and my best bud, Nicky." "For the love of God, will you stop calling me that? I'm not 13 years old anymore!" Nick complained. "Shut up! It's simply done out of pure affection and love. Now say hello to Kim, Nicky." I smiled as he glared at me. Then he caught his first glimpse of Kim, and I could tell it was love at first sight. He reached over, grabbed her hand, and kissed it. "Very nice to meet you, Kim," he said. "Nice to meet you too, Nick," Kim said, blushing slightly. Kevin clapped his hands. "Great! Now that everyone knows everyone, let's go. We have to meet Katie for dinner in 45 minutes." "I swear to God! What did you two do, pack your entire dorm room in here?" Brian asked us. "As a matter of fact…"I trailed off, smiling sweetly at him. Nick groaned as he lifted a bag into the car. "Girls, go figure!" Kim and I both whipped around at the same time, "Hey!" Kevin grinned as he got in the car. "I'd start running now Nick!" Half an hour later, the 5 pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. "I can't wait to see Katie again!" I said. My brother reached out and hugged me. "I'm so glad you like her. She was so nervous when she first met you. She looking forward to seeing you again too." "Wait a minute. Why was she so nervous about meeting me?" I asked. "It's cause your brother here thinks you’re the neatest thing since sliced bread. He talks about you all the time." Brian told her. I beamed up at Kevin. "Aww, do you really? I love you, big brother." "I love you too, little sister. Now come on, Katie's already here." Kevin grabbed her hand and led the group into the restaurant. Katie stood as she saw the group approach. Kevin came up and wrapped his arms around his fiancée. "Hello darling," he said before he bent his head to kiss her. "OK, you two, break it up. This is a family place ya know!" I said. The couple finally broke apart. "Hi Erika," Katie said to me and stuck out her hand. "No, your family now. Come here," I said and hugged my future sister-in-law. Katie laughed and hugged me back. "Finally, another woman who's as tall as I am!" I stepped back and high-fived her. "I know. Power to the tall sisters! Oh Katie, this is Kim." "Hi Kim. Nice to meet you," Katie said. "Nice to meet you too. Thanks for inviting me to the wedding," Kim responded. Katie shook her head. "Not a problem. The more the merrier. Come on, everyone, lets sit down and order." Later that night Kim and I were getting settled in the house. I was going to go and check on her, but it looked like Nick beat me too it. He was about to knock on her door when I stepped into the hallway. "What ya doin', Nicky?" He spun around. "Stop that! I was just gonna ask how Kim was doing." "Oh really? And here I thought it was because you liked her. Silly me!" I said, grinning. "Leave me alone, will ya?" he asked, knocking on Kim's door. "Anything for you, Nicky." I said and closed my bedroom door. Nick smiled and turned toward Kim's door. To his surprise, he found her standing there. "Hey Kim," he said lightly. "Hi Nick. Is there something I can do for you?" Kim asked, looking up at him. "Um, actually, I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me tomorrow night?" Kim smiled. "Sure, I'd like that. What time?" "How about 6. We can catch a movie or something afterwards." "Cool. Well, see you tomorrow, Nick. Good night," she said, and shut the door to her room. It was the next day and I was running late to meet Kevin and Katie. I pulled the car up in front of the building and sprinted for the doors. I raced inside the lobby and collided with someone.
