Then and Now Chapter 18 Hannah walked up the path to the girls cabin. Before she saw the guys she heard them, she smiled to herself. Only a few more days left with them if she went through with her plan. She neared the gate and made herself smile. The last thing she wanted was for someone to figure out what she was thinking. Brian ran up the stairs and stopped in front of Ang's door. It was closed. Relax B, he told himself as he knocked. From inside he could hear her sobbing quietly, the sound broke his heart. "Ang its Rok, let me in. Please babe!" Ang looked up from her pillow at the door. "No! Go away." "God your stubborn. I'm not leaving till you let me in." Ang wiped away her tears. "I hope you like it out there, cuz you'll be there till you decide to leave." Brian leaned against the door and pounded on it with his fist. "Ang please!" he pleaded softly. On her bed, she shook her head violently. She needed time to sort through things. "Bri please, for me just leave me alone!" "If thats what you want." he said finally and walked down the hall slowly. He stopped at the stairs and looked back at the closed door. He couldn't believe she was shutting him out. He sighed and walked down the stairs. "Your what?" Lis asked Han as they stood in the kitchen. Nina and Jenn had just left the kitchen with plates of food. Han leaned against the counter and avoided looking at her friend. "I'm going to rent a car, drive to the nearest city and fly home." "I can't believe this!" Lis said, shaking her head. "Believe what?" Nick asked, walking inside the kitchen. He had hoped Lis was alone in the kitchen so they could talk but if Han was there, he'd wait. Han gave Lis a 'don't say anything' look. "The weather." Lis said, not looking at him. "That's it all right. Seriously you two, what is it?" "Lis just can't believe her feelings." Han said and slipped out of the room. Lis just stood there frozen staring after her best friend in amazement, she couldn't believe she'd say that. I'm gonna kill her, Lis fumed. She looked up to see Nick standing in front of her. "Your feelings for what?" he asked, a smile appearing on his face. "Kentucky outdoor life. Well know that that's settled, I'm gonna go eat." she smiled and started to walk away but Nick grabbed her arm. "Lis you've been avoiding me the entire week we've been here. There's only two more left then one after that in Tampa before you walk out of my life again." "What can I say? The disappearing act works well in this relationship." Nina walked over behind Kevin who was flipping burgers on the barbecue. "Hey!" Kev said, spotting his girlfriend behind him. "How's the burgers coming?" Kev flipped the last one. "I'd say nearly done." "Good." she wrapped her arms around his waist and smiled. "You know, we should get some time alone soon." Kev raised an eyebrow. "Time alone huh?" She nodded and walked around in front of him. "Maybe later today?" "Sounds like a plan." he kissed her quickly on the lips and watched her go back to the group. Time alone was one thing they needed. Brian was sitting on the front steps of the cabin thinking about everything when the front door opened and Hannah walked out. She took one look at him and quickly went back inside. "Han wait!" B called, scrambling to his feet. Han ignored his plea and kept walking through the cabin, she heard him run up behind her then pull lightly on her arm to make her stop. "What Bri?" she said flatly. Han avoided looking in his eyes. "Han please can we talk? Ang is avoiding me, I don't want you to do the same." "Why's that?" "Because its you I want in my life." Ang stood at the top of the stairs and stared wide eyed at the scene below. Good timing Ang, she told herself as she spun around on her heel and headed back to her room. Brian caught a glimpse of Ang walking away from the stairs. "Stay here ok?" he said, looking Han in the eyes. "Fine." she sighed and walked across the room, sitting on the couch. Brian ran up the stairs and caught up to his best friend in front of her bedroom. "Go away Bri." Ang said, sensing it was him. "Ang we need to talk about this. I don't want to hurt you." Ang turned and looked at him with tear filled eyes. "Talk about what? The fact I just realized I was never really over you, that I'm still in love with you and watching you go around with another woman is driving me crazy? Is that what you had in mind?" Brian froze at her words. "Your still in love with me?" he whispered. Ang laughed. "Come on Bri, don't tell me you didn't know. Krys said it was obvious to everyone but me." "And me." "Then we were both in the dark." she said as she walked into her room, closing the door behind her. He grabbed the door before it shut and followed her inside. "How could you not know Ang?" he asked, running a hand through his hair. He couldn't believe what had just come out of his best friends mouth. She shrugged. "I guess I thought we were happy the way we were. Apart and friends." He sank to the floor and stared at a spot on the wall for a few minutes before he spoke. "Are you sure?" "I think so." she laid back on her bed and wished it was her Brian wanted. "This changes things." he said finally. Ang felt her heart leap. "How?" Brian looked at his hands. "I uh well I still have some feelings for you too." "Where does that leave Han?" Ang asked, rolling onto her side to look at him. He shook his head. "I don't know where this leaves anyone." Brian stood up. "I'm going to my room to think." "You okay B?" she asked, he looked funny. "I will be." he gave her a weak smile and walked out of the room. Next: Chapter 19 |
