Then and Now Chapter 19 Krys walked into the girls cabin, AJ chasing after her. She stopped in the doorway of the kitchen and looked at Han who was laying on the couch with her eyes closed. "I know I know, disappear." AJ said, leaving his girlfriend's side and going back into the kitchen. "You ok there Han?" Krys asked, sitting on the armchair. Han sighed, "Ducky thanks." Krys laughed. "Then why do you look like you'd rather be anywhere but here?" "Because your right." Han sat up and looked at her friend. "You might as well know, everyone will soon. I'm going back to New York as soon as I can get a rental car." Krys stared at her in shock. "Your what?" "Leaving." "Why? What did Brian do?" "Nothing, its just not working out between us and I just think I'd be better off in New York." Krys shook her head. "There's something your not saying."Brian stood in the darkness of the stairs. He'd been eavesdropping on Hannah and Krys' conversation. She was going to leave. Just up and go. Inside he felt torn, he waited till the girls stopped talking and walked down the stairs. "Hey all!" he said cheerfully. Krys looked around the room. "All? Bri do you need glasses babe? There's only me and Han here." He laughed. "I's playing. We gonna eat soon?" Han stood up. "What is it with men and food?" Krys shook her head. "Dunno, but when you find out will you tell me." "Will do." The girls headed for the backyard to eat. Lis walked out the patio doors, leaving Nick inside the kitchen alone. Maybe if Han was actually leaving she'd leave too. She looked around and saw Howie and Jenn sitting side by side at the picnic table holding a whispered conversation while Nina was by Kevin holding the plate while he put the burgers on it. She grabbed a drink from the cooler and headed out into the yard to get some time alone. Nick walked outside. He couldn't understand what was going on with him and Lis, sometimes it was like they were together then other times it was like she hated him and didn't want to be near him. An idea struck him and he smiled. Perfect, he thought as he went to get ready to eat. ~Later that night~ AJ plugged in the patio lights and they turned on. He grinned at Krys and pulled him to her. "So looky here, all alone at the guys cabin." Krys shook her head to keep from laughing. "Not like you planned that. "Are you accusing me of planning something?" he asked innocently, starting to sway to the music coming from the radio on the railing "AJ we've been dating almost two years, I think I can tell when your planning something." "I just wanted to ditch the guys, their like my brothers but being with them 24/7 constantly makes me wanna get rid of them." Krys smiled. "I wanted to get rid of them too." AJ grinned. "You plotter you!" he leaned forward and kissed her. Nick looked through the patio door, Lis was sitting on the bench listening to her discman and writing in her notebook. He couldn't have planned it better. Brian sat alone in the back booth of the small cafe. The cup of coffee on the table had been sitting there untouched for nearly two hours. In one day his life had turned into a disaster. When he woke up that morning he had thought it was going to be a good day, turned out he was wrong. He put his head in his hands and sat there, trying to make sense of it all. Ang walked down the street of the little town. She'd done the grocery shopping, bought a few new cds at the music store and was going to go wait at the cafe for everyone to meet up. Jenn, Howie, Brian, Nina and her had decided to spend the evening in town. She walked by the cafe window and stopped, seeing Brian through the window. He didn't notice her, his head was in his hands and he looked upset. After five years of being friends and more then friends she knew his moods and what he looked like in them. She took one more look at him through the window and continued down the street. Lis looked at her watch, it was nearly nine and even though it was early she was kinda tired. She knew Han had gone into town with some of the others to see a movie or do whatever so she was the only one at the cabin. She gathered her stuff and headed inside the cabin. Next: Chapter 20 |
