Then and Now Chapter 3 Lis followed Jane and Han up the stairs. Her eyes took in every platinum album that hung on the walls. She'd never realized Nicky Carter was THE Nick Carter. She'd heard of the Backstreet Boys but really hadn't paid much attention. Han turned around and raised an eyebrow, motioning to the open door of Nick and Aaron's room. It was nearly identical to Lis', sports posters covered every inch of the walls. "And here we are girls." Jane said opening the door to the second guest room. Lis and Han walked in and looked around. The room was large with two double beds across the room from each other. A vase of flowers sat on a small table between two arm chairs. "Uhm this is our room?" Lis asked stunned. Jane wrapped an arm around Lis' shoulders. "Of course. I thought you two girls would like this one. Now I've warned Nick not to play his music so loud that you two can't sleep and if he gives any trouble go in and punch him." Jane laughed. "I'm sure Lis can handle that." Han said laughing, but stopped when Lis shot her a look. "I'm going to leave you two to get settled, I'm sure Nick and Bri should be by any minute with your bags." Jane said and quickly left the room. Hannah walked over to the one bed and fell back. "Now this I can stand." she smiled up at the ceiling. Lis sat down on the other bed and looked around. "I dunno Han, I for one would rather be with Boyd at the lake."Nick and Brian walked into the girls room, they were each laying on the beds staring at the ceilings. "You two alive?" Brian asked, setting the bag down. Han sat up startled. "Yeah I'm breathing." she smiled. "Thanks for bringing up the bags." "No problem." Nick answered. "Lis?" "Yeah?" she asked, she still hadn't moved. "Do you want to go out later? Some friends of ours are meeting up later and we thought maybe you two would want to come." "Count me in!" Han answered happily. So far she was enjoying this little vacation. "Not me, I'm just gonna crash. But you guys have fun." Lis replied, ignoring the look Han was giving her. Brian noticed the dejected look on his friend's face. "You sure Lis? Its going to be a fun time. All the guys are gonna be there and a few of the girlfriends..." "Seriously I don't want to go ok?" Lis answered, getting off the bed. "Now if you'll excuse me I'm going downstairs." She moved past Nick and Brian and out into the hall. Nick sighed. "Its me right?" "Not only you, her parents dragged her on this trip." Hannah explained, feeling sorry for Nick. "Why would they drag her? She's 18 she could do what she wants." Brian replied, sitting on one of the chairs. "Her parents aren't fond of Boyd and well when they found out we all planned to spend time at his cabin without any parents around they sprung this on her. I got asked along to keep her company." "Boyd would be..." Nick asked. "Her boyfriend of six months. He's a real sweetheart but her folks don't see it. He plays hockey on a team back in Jamestown, might even make it to the pros." "Wow. Poor Lis, now I see why she's acting well angry." Bri said standing up. "I'll talk her into tonight though. She could use a night with peeps her own age." Hannah said leaving the room. Nick looked at Brian and sighed. "I know man, a girl involved is a no no." "A big no no." Brian said, pushing his friend out of the room. Nick walked outside onto the deck carrying a tray of drinks. He looked over at Lis who was sitting with BJ looking over some photo albums. She laughed at something and looked over at him. Nick smiled back but she quickly looked away. "Nick!" A female voice called out from the end of the driveway. "Aimee!" Nick set the tray down and waved at his best friend. He walked over to her and gave her a big hug. "Your back early." "By two days. New York City isn't as exciting as I thought it would be." Aimee smiled and looked at the crowded deck. "Oh a party?" "Mom and dad's friends, their daughter and her friend." Aimee nodded. "Hmm interesting arrangement. They trying to fix you two up?" she asked wrapping an arm around him and heading onto the deck. "No. Don't even mention that." He rolled his eyes. Aimee laughed. "Don't pull that with me Nicky I know when you like someone I see it in your eyes. Now is it the redhead or the brunette?" she whispered as she walked over to them. "Hey Aimee!" Brian said from his spot on the lawn playing catch with Aaron. "Heya B!" She waved and sat down at the table with BJ and the girls. "Hi Aimee." BJ said, putting away the photo albums. "Hey. Who are the two new arrivals?" Aimee smiled warmly at the two girls. "Lis and Han, Lis is Danny and Sheila's daughter and Han's her best friend. Their in town for the summer." "Cool. Nice meeting you two. I'm Aimee, Nick's best bud unfortunetly." She grinned at Nick who was hovering nearby. "Poor you." Lis said laughing. "So you two are coming tonight right? Going be fun, beach party at Bone's." Aimee leaned back in her chair and slid her sunglasses down her nose, looking at Han and Lis. "I am but Lis isn't." Han explained. "Why not Lis?" "Not really up for a party." Lis explained, looking over to the barbecue. Why did it seem everyone was on her about going to this thing. "Its not really a party just a get together, you can ditch Nick once you get there. I usualy do." "Ha ha funny Aim." Nick said sitting down at the table. "What? Its the truth." She smiled sweetly at him. Nick rolled his eyes. "Ignore her, she's mentally unbalanced." Nick teased and Aimee smacked his shoulder. "You if anyone is mentally unbalanced." She looked over to Lis, "Come on please? You can meet the girls and the guys, I swear their not as weird as these two." She motioned to Bri and Nick. Lis sighed. "Fine whatever." Next: Chapter 4 |
